incredibly early to make such comparison.. He sure seems on the right track and I could see it possible down the road considering his size, his age and his current success.
I think that it's too early to tell. Goaltenders all hit a developmental stride at a different age, so I can't predict what is in store for Markstrom at 18 years old. Considering that he is a terrific talent, I think the ability is there, but I've also seen talented young goalies fail to progress past the junior level (Marc Denis and Corey Hirsch come to mind immediately.)
I think he would have to be one of the luckiest prospects in the world to become that good. No.
Well some are calling him the greatest Swedish goalie prospect they have had. If he can be ANYWHERE near Henrik, I will be more than happy. What a steal for the Panthers, how this guy wasnt picked earlier is beyond me.

I was gonna say "who?" thanks...
That said, its too early to answer your question with anything but a no.
There should've been a "too early to tell" option. Sure he has the potential to be a good, maybe even better, but its near impossible to predict goalie prospects, especially at so young an age.
I realize the draft is a crap shoot, but if a goalie is projected to be as good or better than a goalie of Lundqvist's calibur, he goes top 5, maybe 1st overall.
Lundqvist is a top 3 goalie goalie, the only one over him is Brodeur and Luongo has a small case.
Basically, the question becomes "Will Jacob Markstrom be the best goalie in the NHL?" - Maybe, or maybe some goalie picked in the 7th round, or one that went undrafted. Did anyone think that Hasek picked @ #199 in the tenth round would be the best goalie of his era? Nope.
