Yes, Heatley has more of a natural scoring touch, but Zetterberg's a better playmaker, and I'd say a better leader. Z in a heartbeat.
brodeur never won the conn smythe.

Hmmm, very observant. The past two seasons, Alfie was a top 5 player, better than your boy Zetterberg.

Heatley, the guy simply dominated at the Worlds this summer.

Also, had Ottawa won the cup in '07, I think Heatley might have won the Conn Smythe (he and Spezza were tied for the lead in points, and Alfredsson had that incident with Neidermayer), so I think the MVP argument is a wash.

He's also one of the most perserverent players I've ever seen. Even after the whole Dan Snyder thing, changing teams and losing partial vision in his eye, he's still one of the top players in the NHL.

There's no way in hell anyone but Alfredsson would have won the Conn Smythe had the Sens won. Alfredsson was the best choice as it was.

Agreed.

Actually, Alfredsson was the MVP of the playoffs, but he didn't get it because the Sens lost.

Alfredsson was more valuable to his team than anyone on the Ducks [they had combined valuability from Neidermayer, Pahlsson, Pronger and Getzlaf].

Had we gotten to game 7, it was Alfie's trophy to win.

Teach emoticons or not, Heatley has won two golds at the Worlds as well as a gold at the 2004 World Cup. Apparently you can win things with Heatley.

Those teams would have won with Wade Belak on the roster instead of Heatley.

Some people might make the same argument about Zetterberg and Detroit's Stanley Cups.

I was merely pointing out the double standard in the poster's post.

Zetterberg won the Olympic Gold in 2006. Heatley didn't even get a medal.

Winning Gold at the Worlds isn't very impressive considering players on teams who survive past the 1st round don't participate. Maybe Heatley wins so much at the Worlds because his team flops in the 1st round?

Besides, medals are team accomplishments and not individual ones. Horrible criteria to use when comparing players.

Just some fact-correction for you:

Detroit's Stanley Cups aside from last season would 100% have been won with Zetterberg. He wasn't even on the team until 2003.

Last season he won the Conn Smythe trophy after leading the team in scoring. Would the Pens have made the Finals without Crosby? He scored at the same clip as Zetterberg did. I doubt any team wins the Cup if you take away their Conn Smythe winner so that's a ridiculous argument.

Nevertheless, the statement "You don't win anything with Heatley !!" is asinine.

Dany Heatley has had two 100 point seasons, and 4x 40 goal season.

How is this poll a joke?

My instinct is to go with Zetterburg, but Heatley's been extra amazing as of late. I think I still lean towards Zetterburg, but if Heater gets better on the defensive end, then I will probably change my mind.

Both awesome players. I know people have a hard on for Zetterberg lately, but Heatley is no slouch himself. They both play on great lines and are pretty complete players. This poll should be closer than indicated.

Buuuuutt, with all that said, I still voted for Zetterberg.
