Penguin Vote Stuffing?

Not only has Crosby (deservedly so) overtaken Kovalev, Koivu, Tanguay (with Malkin now a close 5th), but Gonchar and Whitney are fast approaching Markov and Komo plus M.A. Fleury is heating up behind Price. If the NHL checked out Habs ballot stuffing, they may do the same for the Pens-- seems like way to much of a jump in so short a period of time

On a more serious note: assuming Crosby and Malkin finish in the top 3 among forwards, I think Koivu is the most deserving Hab forward to be selected as a starter. Certainly not Kovy (as much as I love watching L'Artiste). At the moment, Kovy has a slight lead over Koivu.

How is this any different to the Habs stuffing votes??

Nice thread, no thread.

I think having the starting five represent the host city is a good idea. They use to have the NHL All-Stars versus a team in the old days, you know.

... Besides, Kovy, Tang, Koivu, Komi, Markov and Price and better then anyone else in the East.

It's different in the way that the current Pens voting hasn't come under any scrutiny, and they didn't have 20% (someone correct me if I'm wrong on that number) of their votes taken away.

Difference is Gonchar and Whitney hasn't played 1 Game this season. Fleury played 14Games.

Gonchar and Whitney will not be at ASG because they didn't play enough games.

Same thing for FLeury...I think!

Should we blame the fans or the NHL?Everyone knew Gonchar and Whitney were out for a good 2 months each why the hell are they even on the ballot in the first place?NHL should just go back to the old system or make the coaches pick the players

Since Gonchar and Whitney won't participate, will the NHL take the next D with the most votes (Markov and Komi) ?

You got it, I think the minimum requirement was 20 games in the current season.

Correct....or they'll just use cardboard cut-outs in their place to piss us off.

I Highly doubt that

That's only for the rookies.

You're better off voting by text message, it doesn't look like the NHL has any measures to slow down the voting process, or verify whether or not the votes are "legitimate".

I think letting the fans vote is dumb enough. That's the NHL part.
Doesn't mean the fans have to be stupid and vote for players that didn't partake in any games this year. That's the fans's part.

Interesting... Looks like the Penguins fans could be cheating after all:

Couldn't the NHL have restricted the votes to 1 per IP address and phone number? Why didn't they?

The first three are all injured, I believe Gonchar and Whitney may not even be eligible because they haven't played games or enough games.

All is fair though, if our fans can do it why not theirs?

My question is how are they out voting us now, has everyone slowed down?

Our fan is using the internet and can only put in a couple of hundred votes per day per fan. Pens fans use SMS text messaging and could put in several thousands votes per day per fan. We simply can not compete.

True, but where it doesnt "stick" is seeing how they reacted to Habs voting compared to Pens voting... just look at NHL.com today's headline...

I mean, it's suspicious enough to verify if Tanguay gets over 100K votes during the week-end, but all is good if Crosby gets over 100K over during a week-end ? ?

if anything, the league is showing THEY want Crosby to be 1st in voting!

If healthy they will be invited, they're not rookies so they don't need to meet the 20 games requirement, same for Fleury.
