OT : I can't see why Tampa would hang on to Vinny.

Another day, another loss for the Lightning, but I really don't think Vinny is going to remain in Tampa.

I'm not saying he's coming to Montreal, but you have to think he's an obtainable player this year. With his salary, and struggling point total this year.. BG could have a chance it looks like.

Tampa could fetch the #1 next year, and save 8 million a year by trading Vinny. They would get a nice return for him, and could rebuild with the package they get in return.

So, guess what I'm asking is.. anyone see a reason to keep him if you are the Tampa Bay Lightning, and could BG make a reasonable offer for him?

Yeah yeah I know.. Ryder, Halak and a 2nd isn't really an option any longer.

I kind of dito that too. That a long deal. But at the same time, if Vinny is willing to wait, their is no other reason to trade him. There is other guys that could go first.

Mike Richards looks like a bargain right now, even with 12 years.

Lecavalier is already close to 30 and his contract is for more money.

Vinny's contract is way too long and even if TB wanted to trade him it would probably be hard for a team to take on that contract given its length. With a contract that long TB probably wouldn't get close to true value for him anyway....Let him stay in TB where he apparently wants to be.

Why would he want to leave? He's living a perfect life in a perfect city with a perfect weather. Also he's clearly enjoying the lack of media and attention.

You're exactly right. He likes being a high profile guy but not subject to very much media scrutiny. Let's just say that he isn't going anywhere, period.

ok, it would be coming from a buddy at CKAC, apparently around 10'ish Ron Fournier mentionned something about the Habs having a log jam which might see O'Byrne being sent down for conditioning purposes, movement coming soon.

That really doesn't tell us much, I figure that would be a gimme considering Komo is coming back very soon and Dandy isn't playing too badly. It still doesn't tell us anything about these talks.
Also my brother works for the Gazette ...I haven't heard anything....yet

Please no....he is useless at this point.

As for the Vinny stuff, as mentioned his contract is just stupid and Gainey would never take that on.
