What about Bondra?

I was thinking... what about signing Peter Bondra to play alongside Koivu?

He plays right-wing, has put up great numbers in recent years, awesome skater, crazy wrist shot and is a huge threat on the power play.

If you compare him to Kovalev, Bondra may not be able to handle the puck as well (not as flashy) but has put up better numbers in recent years AND he comes cheaper... his salary last year was $4.5M which fits the budget. (although I'd offer less than $4.5M...)

Kovalev stats:

Bondra could be a good addition to our team but IMO Kovalev is better(and younger). If Kovalev sign with another team, maybe BG should look at Bondra but if Kovalev resign, he shouldn't.

Bondra would be at the bottom of my list, specially when i see all the quality RWs on the market right now. My #1 guy would be kovalev, and then i'de go for Demitra, even if most people dont like him. He does have injury problems but hes played more than 65 games in the last 3 seasons i think, which is acceptable. For a reasonable price (4.5m + bonuses) , he'd be a great deal!. He averages a point per game and hes one of the best players in the league IMO.

Well now I saw something on the Pitt. board referencing the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Now, it says that the Pens chances of signing Kovalev are remote and that they're focusing in more on Zhamnov and Stumpel. And the latest update says he's not close to signing with anyone. But I think our offer might turn out to best. One more push in generosity from Gainey, say making it a 3yr deal with an option or including some nice bonuses or both. It would be nice to see us have a real first line.

What about Adam Deadmarsh? I know he was out lastyear with concussion problems. I think he was making 3 million and would probly be happy to get 2 million. He has some of the size that Montreal needs up front.

Seeing as he vetoed a trade here a couple of years ago I can't see the Habs being interested.

Plus he and Zednik are too similar in style, lots of goals but no assits type of player. I think there is only room for one of those types on a team, we need to sign a more complete offensive player.

Kovalev, Kariya, Palffy and Demitra fall into that category.

He has been out for almost 2 years, I think he is officially done. No one will sign him, insurance may not even want to cover that contract.

Highest he would get offered would be the league minimum.

I'm with you if you turn that into one of those types on a line, instead of one on a team.

Bienvenue mecton!

K-K-Z (Kovalev Koivu Zednik)

B-K-Z (Bondra Koivu Zednik, la phonétique sonne bizarre; B=Be, K=ka, Z=Z = bekaz = Because = Parce que)

Koivu + Bondra seems to be the recipe to scoring many goals. But i prefer the big mysterious Alexei Kovalev

K-k-k

I would take Bondra if we can't sign the top UFA like Kovalev...

Because:

-He's a natural goalscorer who scored 26 goals last year.
-He can backcheck.
-Is a threat on PK. We need a player who can pressurize the other team D because our PK is not bad but nobody is affraid of Dowd, Sundstrom....Maybe only Bulis is a threat.

Bulis-Bondra on PK would be great!
