NHL Live is saying Habs fans are !LOUD!

They saying that on a Monday night Canadiens game, fans are louder than on a Leafs Saturday game, which is complete silence when there's no music.

So, let me ask, what type of cheering do we have at the Bell Center?

I've heard: "TAAANNN guaayyyyyyyy..." which is the worst cheering i've heard. I'm not sure it's Tanguay but it sounds like it.. It sounds like the O'Byrne chanting but with Tanguay's name.

We (HFBoard) should invent a new chant!

Btw, is it Ole or Oe?

There's definately missing something right now though, our goal song celebration, the simple Plan thing is a disaster, especially compared to NY.

I think we should invent a new chant when the Habs are going on PP.

"SHOT THE PUCK!"

Anyone going to the game wanna try?

Pssst...you're chant might be more effective if it was "SHOOT THE PUCK!"

agreed. L'orielle was the best goal celebration song. Vertigo was terrible and this Simple Plan garbage is even worse.

I just listened to that song-- it's actually pretty bad. Lacks any melody fans can get into.

I would love to see the Habs bring back the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge song as the intro to the team stepping onto the ice. If not for all games, then perhaps for some of our Centennnial celebration games this year (ie. on a night when we wear throwback jerseys).

I've always said that they have to get the 7 nation army chant going. ole's getting old, and even though it's played out in terms of soccer chants, atleast it hasn't really been done in hockey.

I haven't heard the goal song yet, it's not loud enough.

Slim chance of getting L'Orielle as the goal song again

We've had the chant thread enough times and no one has come up with something that everyone likes to run with yet.

I'm sure your thinking of the dance song that i can't remember right now and not Seven Nation Army by The White Strpies.

I think we need to have some light play also, like shut all the light and keep the spotlight on the player.

It's soo boring the way it is right now.

Funny, especially if it is in reference to Pauline Marois speech yesterday where her supporters started chanting the "Ole" chant and when she joined in she was clearly singing "ohway" instead of "Olay" lol it was hilarious, I wondered how many of my fellow hf'ers and habs fans noticed that and found it humorous.

LOL.

What's the story behind the Ole song? When did it start and where?

I noticed and tought that chanting Ole Ole for a politic speach isn't nice at all compared to an hockey game...

Please people let the Ole Ole chants be for sports in Quebec.

It's used in Latin soccer stadiums as a way to taunt opponents. "Ole" is used when a bullfighter is successful in taming a bull. When the bull charges at him and he moves out of the way everyone chants "OLE". So it's used in a way to taunt the opposing team. I know that in soccer when one team holds possession of the ball and continually passes the ball amongst themselves the crowd will chant "Ole" after each pass. So, maybe the "Ole" song is just a sort of taunting, we're dominating you, sort of chant...

Correct, however "Ole" in football, or um Soccer...is also used whenever skilled moves are done to outwit an opponent. Any "cool" feint can result in an "Ole" outburst from the fans but they will just say it once. For example...If you get it through the 5 hole of another soccer player it is called a nutmeg to some and that may prompt fans to shout ole in recognition of the skill displayed and the shame you brought to the other player

What we are seeing is the globalization of the "Ole" chant, it is spreading for many different reasons and uses... I hear where you are coming from though...

No, that is the one that the bruins play after scoring. The White stripes-like song is a remix but I don't know who did it. It's the one that Italy and Italians chanted during the 2006 world cup.
