Another solid period by the Flames. Unfortunately acouple bad bounces and through no real fault of their own the Flames are reliving St Louis. I for one am now expecting a brilliant comeback in the third and then an Overtime win. Once again the period was filled with good skating, snmart passes, and for the most part excellent defensive play.
The PP was very hot cold in the second try. The first half was great pressure, sustained possession, and fantastic shots. They won the battles on the boards and dominated the offensive zone. The second half looked to be chasing the PKers into their own zone more often than not. Mikka was again the Penalty Killer specialist. He stopped shots he had no business seeing, let alone stopping. Once again there were a lot of blocked shots and the team as a whole pressured the puck well.
Bertuzzi. You have played an exponentially better game tonight. Skating hard, throwing hits, and your back checking was a thing of beauty. Leave us not forget your magnificent outlet pass to set up the Flame's first goal! Now stop with the fancy and get back to actually playing a smart game. Miikka was outstanding again that frame. Don't let the score fool you. There was no way even a robotic ninja goalie would have saved any one of the three Montreal goals.
Dustin Boyd is a great young player, showed off his hands, and made some good hits in the 2nd.
Kiprusoff is standing on his head, not to be a homer, but the Flames' defense is too slow for the Habs. What a great goalie he is.
Jarome Iginla - WOW. No more things need to be said.
We've been struggling on the power play this year, but so far today we've had some good chances, can't convert though.
I hated that play by Pardy (?) getting the net off it's moorings. Good old fashioned hockey, but as an Habs fan, the Canadiens were completely dominating the Flames on that shift and it sucked seeing a Flames player do that. It's part of the game though, its all good.
Loving Kovalev that game, creating some nice scoring chances. Having some nice chemistry with the surprising Robert Lang (10 goals this year) and former Flames Alex Tanguay having a solid game, got robbed by Kipper in the first, what a save.
What a goal by D'Agostini, wow, what hands. 4 goals and 1 assist in 5 games, gotta say I am impressed by the kid.

Good luck for the 3rd.
You're the only Hab fan not still bitter about the Regehr hit and the Giordano play. We've got 3 pages in here focusing on the game and the GDT on the Habs forum has 3 pages of each questionable play.

Refreshing to have a fan from the Habs here that is into the game rather than inciting stuff. Decent game so far.

The Flames are my team in the Western Conference, I hope you guys win the Northwest. The NHL really needs to bring back the traditional Montreal at Calgary New Years Eve game.
As for the knee, it looked like an accident to me, Markov is not a dirty player.
I didn't think any of the hits were dirty. Regehr's hit was part of hockey and Markov's was a hip check that Phaneuf tried to avoid but didn't. Great game. The difference, Calgary's defense much too slow.
