He was however, open to trying Horton at center again sometime in the future.

But with Frolik now showing he can take Horton's spot on that line, I think that opens up the door to move Horton back to center. I'm calling it.

I know, Bouw is without a doubt being productive on the PP. But I think if we want our PP to rise from around the low 20's up to at least middle of the road, we need to move the puck quicker, and Jay at the point in that umbrella just isn't conducive to that kind of quick puck movement. The thing I will say in his defense is that he is great at getting the puck up ice and carrying it into the zone at times. The forwards can't shoot the puck enough because they aren't moving the puck quickly enough to create room. This especially applies to our lack of plays down low, because if you don't move the puck around quickly on the PP, the defenders will just swarm the guy down low.

I think if you put Weiss up top along with McCabe and Frolik, then have Stillman take Weiss' spot, and then put Horton on the other wall, we'd move the puck much quicker and thus we'd create more chances.
You could do that type of set up with Jay in there. It actually seems like a good idea to have Bouwmeester move toward the net, like Chara used to do in Ottawa. I don't think it's just a matter of how quick the puck gets moved as much as the forwards hesitance once they get the puck down low, or in the corners. They seem to wait and look around too much, and usually just push it back to the point again. They rely on those point shots way too much. Even if you have Weiss back there, him moving the puck quickly doesn't amount to much, if the players down low don't attack the net or shoot.

Ive noticed that as well. Too many times they come off the corner with the puck, and decide to play it to the point, rather than put the puck on net. I heard DeBoer speak during an interview on the Sens broadcast, saying to his players to get the puck to the net and good things will happen. We do need quicker passes on the PP, especially when teams are playing high to get to McCabe, but we also just need them to shoot the puck.
