Well, truth be told, the Flyers could always use some cap relief, but my assumption is that Lupul wouldn't be the first one moved to meet that objective. I do agree with you though, that if Lupul were to be moved for cap space, then yes, the return of Pyatt and a pick (or mid-prospect) would likely be the most that we could expect.

If Joffrey learned how to spell his name correctly, more teams would be interested.

And I'd prefer a RW coming back, as we would be losing two, or adjusting things a little to include Markstrom (who I doubt the Panthers will move).
Markstrom ,I would hunt them all down and take them out one by one if he was dealt in a deal like this one

It's a shame too because he can spell his last name backwards and it's still right.

I'd give up some a decent roster player or a solid bulechip for a good 2nd line winger with first line potential. I wouldn't give a bag of Tiger Williams' used jock straps for Lupul though.

No need for Labarbera (rather just hang onto Niitty) or Piskula. Make it Zatkoff and a pick or prospect for Lupul, and the Flyers might think about it. The pick or prospect would have to have more value than someone like Piskula, though.

If the Flyers believed he could eventually be a #1 (which is debatable), then Zatkoff, a decent pick and the ability to clear some cap space may be enough. But Labarbera and Piskula in this deal negatively affect the Flyers' view on this proposal, I would think.

I guess you know who Piskula is? We have our own Piskulas in AHL. No interest in Zatkoff either.

Yea, he's a defensive defenseman who may have a bottom pairing future in the NHL. As I said in the above post, we don't need him. I would have some lukewarm interest in Zatkoff, though. He does have some potential.

Let's say the Flyers decide that Lupul is not part of the future, and would like to clear his contract off the books. They could do worse than adding a goalie to the system and clearing cap space, so long as something of value (2nd round pick?) from the Kings was thrown in to sweeten the pot. I'm not saying that is something that would happen, nor am I saying I would necessarily do it, but that scenario isn't exactly all that far fetched.

Doesn't clear cap space...

Wanna offer a draft pick?

Thats like trying to get Jack Johnson for Randy Jones.
LaBarbara isn't the value in this deal for the Flyers. The value lies in Zatkoff and Martinez. Two solid prospects, one a goalie and the other a stay at home defenseman.

There is no value in this trade at all for the Flyers. The Flyers can land better with Jones and Lupul.

While we're throwing random stuff out there...

Extended Luongo, Bieska, Wellwood, 2009 first, 2009 second, for Lupul, Carter, Jones, Biron.

I can make crazy impossible **** up too!

flyers have plenty of solid prospects, so they're not looking to acquire more projects when they're hoping to compete for the cup. they're looking for cheap players that can contribute immediately, blue chip prospects (especially goalies), and maybe some draft picks. or, if they can get it, they'd love to put together a package and get a better player.

lupul, jones for frolov/brown?

There's just no way we take Labarbera and ship Niitty. There's absolutely no point. Maybe if we were being offered such great value for Lupul that we'd be willing to stomach acquiring Labarbera, but Zatkoff and Martinez aren't exactly an overwhelming return.

Agreed.

I never saw Lupul as a reliable player, and from that point of view, I can't see why any team would trade more than player or draft pick for him.
