I hear it all the time during interviews, yet a lot of people still call him Komi.

It's Komo for christ's sake!

i am fed up with all the y's and s's added to players name to 'make it a nickname'. that's crap. It sounds like crap, it looks like crap and it's not original at all

cube , jesus , hammer or turtleneck gangster are cool nick names because they actually refer to something instead of just modifying the player's original name just for the sake of it

[may the bashing begin]

I like the mistake of "socks" instead of "saks". I'm calling koivu that from now on!

ROB = Thief
I like that man. I didn't notice that. WISE!

QFT. No need to bash you, you're the one who makes the most sense.

It reminds me of a Mitch Hednerg bit about his dream job of naming kitchen appliances.

"What do this thing do?"

"It keeps things fresh."

"Then it's a fresh-er. I'm going on a break."

That's a terrible nickname. Why in the world would you name someone after a feminine hygiene product? Also, what the heck does it mean for him to "soak up the competition"? Maybe a like, defensive D or something. But a powerforward?

Kovalev/Lang/Tanguay = The Geriatric Line. In a good way. 50 is the new 30.

OK, being a Leafs fan as a kid, I can see how a golf game became his favourite. I say we call him Farva from now on just because of his childhood team
