Tonights lines

http://insidesocal.com/kings/2008/12....html#comments

Big changes in store tonight. Here's how the Kings are expected to line up:

O'Sullivan-Kopitar-Purcell
Calder-Stoll-Brown
Frolov-Handzus-Simmonds
Ivanans-Moller-Zeier

Quincey-Doughty
O'Donnell-Greene
Gauthier-Harrold

Armstrong (headache) and Richardson (foot) remain out.

After some driving and transcribing, I'll have tons of quotes on all this stuff. A lot from Terry Murray about the need to shake up the offense and tweak the defense, and quite a bit from O'Sullivan about the changes. Plus, Purcell's thoughts...

Poor Oscar he is going to be a -3 tonight. Too bad he is the only guy guy left who can play center.

Everyone gets a turn on the 4th line it seems, except for Kopitar and Brown.

Glad to see that they are breaking up Kopitar and Brown, but I would have put O'Sullivan and Brown together and moved Frolov up with Kopitar.

I don't think that would work. Too much puck possession, who would take the shoot on the Fro and Kopitar line? I guess you never know right.

Ugh, Calder still in the top six when Moller is centering the fourth line disgusts me.

Sully-Kopitar-Purcell should be really interesting, though.

I would've put Calder down to the third, with Handzus and Simmonds.

Put Moller on the Second with Fro, and Brown.

And have Stoll center Ivanans and Zeiler.

Does anyone else think we're having trouble scoring because Murray is constantly switching the lines? No chemistry at all.

Well it worked last year when Frolov played with Kopitar briefly.

Brown and O'Sullivan worked for Team USA in the World Championships. I would give it a try.

I am glad to see that they are putting Purcell on a line where he can succeed. No point in bringing him up and sticking him on the 4th line.

Can Ivanans please sit for a game or two?

I like it. Just the fact that he split up Kopi and Brown who I think could use a shake up like this.

I'd actually rather have O'Sullivan w/ Kopitar and Frolov with Brown.

I'd rather have Moller on the 4th line than Calder. For one, there is nobody to else to play center besides O'Sullivan and I doubt you want him on the 4th line. Secondly, Calder/Zeiler/Ivanans would just be ugly. Moller is going to have to carry those guys. Hopefully Moller will still get some PP time. Switching Calder and Frolov would be really good. I think Frolov feeding Stoll and Brown could work well. But there is still some good balance with the lines this way.

I would rather dress 7 defensemen and double shift O'Sullivan and/or Koptiar with the 4th line.

My Lines:
O'Sullivan-Kopitar-Purcell
Frolov-Stoll-Brown
Moller-Handzus-Simmonds
Ivanans-Kopitar-Zeiler

Whoever said to sit Ivanans is an idiot. The Blues are loaded with toughness. Last game Janssen plastered Moller. They have Crombeen, Janssen, Jackman, Tkachuk, Brewer, and even Statsny can drop them.

Kings aren't that tough to begin with and pretty damn whimpy without Ivanans. Quincey has yet to drop the gloves, Brown is not a fighter, O'Donnell is 37 and is too valuable sitting for 5, same with Greene (who is a mediocre fighter). Zeiler has one NHL fight, and that was the other night agaisnt Lappy. Simmonds still barely weights 170.

It was one thing when the Kings had Kostopolous, Avery, Thornton up front...you could afford to sit Ivanans...Hell, even Boyle helped. Now, up front, we have really no one and our defense is tougher, yes, but all the D are showing they are too valuable to be fighting.

Forget a four goal game, when was the last time a King had a hat trick?

I think Cammy got one a week or so ago.

Oh wait...

He has been taking one bad penalty a game and not fighting like he did last year...but his presence still deters guys from taking liberties agaisnt the smaller and younger Kings.

If I was the GM, I would've called Westgarth. He is meaner and more eager to prove himself and showed he can skate a shift.

Should be:

Frolov-Kopitar-Purcell
Brown-O'Sullivan-Moller
Stoll-Handzus-Simmonds
Calder-Richardson-Zeiler

All in their natural position, except for Stoll who moves down to wing alongside Zeus.
