I disagree with Spezza and Heatley not battling for the puck. They do, but not on a consistent enough basis.

I think it's a fear and overreaction based heavily on last season's defensive collapse. If the fear is player based, which I'm doubting day-by-day, then it will pass. If it is management based, then we may waste a year or more on a problem that was much smaller than it appeared to be.

Then if I am reading you right, you are hankering for a trade as much as I am, if you want to salvage the season instead of wait until the summer to right the roster.

Not really. I have more faith in this roster than you do... because most of it looks exactly like the one we've had since the lockout ended (and we've been top-3 in scoring every year). A trade will just bring in an additional player who will be afraid of making defensive mistakes instead of trying to score. Meanwhile, the player we trade out will probably just learn to breath again and pick it up after 20 or so games with their new teams.

Faith aside, that's a pretty hopeless attitude.

Our top 5 scorers from last season are each on pace for an average of 25 points less than should have been expected to produce based on recent history. It isn't because we went from Redden, Meszaros and half a year of Corvo to Kuba, Picard and Bell//Schubert/Lee. It's not about personnel. If it passes, then it's a slump... if it lingers, it's structural.

I'm feeling bad for gerber, what happened to those days.. I remember that he was the reason that canes in the 05/06 season got to the playoffs, his record was 38-14.. thats great! But playoffs are what he needs to work on.

Sorry, but ... what does he have to do with anything?

It has to do with gerber, thought you noticed?

I was talking about what he used to be, and now this season his record is 1-5-1. Sure it doesn't have to do with hawks game last night but whatever...

Gerber wasnt the problem last night. Did what you want your backup to do.

Can't win if you don't score goals.

It must be said, it doesn’t help that our so called elite forwards only look the part when they’re playing together.
The big 3 should be together. They score together. NONE of them score nearly as much when they arent. Its everyone else on the team that needs to figure their **** out.
