Call up Weber

This team needs help on the PP and it's becoming urgent.
The PP is the reason for at least 4-5 losses.

I don't care if Weber is not ready defensively.
Can he do worse than Ryan "I can't skate" O`byrne ?

Come on Bob do something.
The PP is in 29th place overall and 30th place at home.

management is not as prone to panic as the fans are (thank God)

It will all come together in due time

Weber will arrive soon

Yeah, I'd like to see that too. He is launching some wicked shots ; plus he's not that efficient at other spots on the PP. Put him on the blue line and tell him to just let them fly

I would be surprised if Weber is not called up soon. They're trying the fourth line on the powerplay! I mean really, how much worse could it be with Weber on the point? O'Bryne's falling over backwards on odd-man rushes. Again, how much worse could Weber be? Give the kid a shot!

Anyone know if OByrne can be sent down without going through waiver?

The problem is not at the point. Teams are stacking 4 guys at the blueline and our guys are trying to stickhandle in instead of dumping and having 2 guys on the puck.

Weber is not even a force in the AHL, how the hell will he make an impact in the NHL?

Yes he could do worse than O'byrne, we don't need another non-physical d-man.

Seriously. All those complaints about Weber. O'Byrne has every single one of these. He doesn't play physical, he's getting served every single night two to five times. He magically falls and gives a golden breakaway once every 2-3 games and is unable to do transition play effectively.
Weber has most of those, supposedly, but at least, the guy was an offensive machine in the OHL and is doing fairly well in his rookie AHL season.
Besides, he was Swiss captain in junior if memory recalls. It has to be fate, I tell ya. Don't care if you'll send him back soon after. At least try. If it doesn't work, just have somebody in Hamilton replace him. If we have nobody better than O'Byrne in Hamilton, our PP is doomed.

How about we trade for Sheldon Souray !

Solves two problems at once:
1- Shot at the point
2- Top 4 defenseman to play with Hamrlik

He also knows most of our team so it won't take him long to gel.

Yes he has a fat contract and yes I don't think he's worth it but we're going for the cup this year.

O'Byrne + others for Sheldon could interest Edmonton

I'm more interested in developing weber as a hockey player rather than bringing him up to address a single need. You dont want him to become a picard.

You can crap on O'byrne for a lot of stuff, but you can't say he doesn't play physical. With Komi out, on most nights, he is the only d-man that finishes his checks.

You are severly overrating Weber, he is not even next up in the pecking order for callups, Carle is.

So how do you pay his nearly 6 mil salary?

If you go get him you also have to let 2 of Tanguay Kovalev and Koivu walk next summer.

Our PP being this bad does not make ANY sense at all. 9.1% means it takes more than 20 minutes of PP on average to score a goal. However, we have 85 goals in 29 games, roughly 3 goals a game, so a goal per 20 minutes. We actually score more on ES+SH combined than on the PP.

I don't think any further analysis of this stat or any comments are necessary at all so I'll shut up now.

It doesn't take a genius to see they are trying wayyyy too hard to make fancy plays at home instead of getting control in the offensive zone and getting the puck to the net.

How many turnovers again tonight because of O'Byrne. The guy is 6'6 but plays like he's 5'11. Too lanky.

Anyways, there are a number of players in Hamilton that I'm sure can't be much worst than Obie.
