I don't think that Ohlund would wave his NTC to come to Montreal.

Even if he did, looking at it value-wise, it's a gross overpayment from Montreal's point of view due to Ohlund's UFA status at the end of the season. Replace Ohlund with Bieksa and we can look into this.

Are you on crack!??! Other than Maxwell, all those pieces of the trade suck! We have no need for O'Byrne, Latendresse would be decent, and the 1st in 2010 is likely to be a 20+ pick in a weak draft. On the other hand, we give you our best D-man, one of our best young players, and a top 15 pick in a DEEEP draft?

Keep dreaming buddy ...

Start with the Higgins/Kostitsyns

Canucks 1st = Habs 1st

Raymond >or= Latendresse ( I wouldnt part with Raymond for Latendresse)

Ohlund <--> Maxwell, O'Byrne
-now how does this last bit work out? ... The value could be pretty close if the canucks were kinda rebuilding, but they're not do I think they'd want someone they could use now + O'Byrne to replace Ohlund... maybe Maxwell could be useful now but I dont think he'd make enough of an impact to warrant losing Ohlund at this point... therefore I think the conclusion will be NO simply because it doesnt improve the canucks now but actually does the opposite

How are we making a deadline deal and acquiring a 1st?

Canucks are not trading Ohlund unless it's at the deadline AND we're out of a playoff spot, and even if that is the case, it would be for NOTHING less than a 1st and a blue chip prospect.. and that's IF Ohlund waives his NTC.

From Vancouver's point of view, we're not giving up a 1st, a young prospect with potential, and Ohlund for spare ****ing parts. That doesn't even help us long-term! A 1st in '09 is NOT equal to a 1st in '10, especially considering Montreal's is probably going to be ~5 picks later in a weaker draft.

If Keith Tkachuk can return a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and roster player, if Hossa can return a first, two former 1st round picks, and a young roster player... Ohlund can return a 1st/blue chip prospect. Unless you're going to offer MacDonagh or Pacioretty AND your '09 1st, Vancouver doesn't listen... if you want Raymond as well think about including your 2nd '09 (do you still have it?) or Subban.

I got a better one. Pyatt and Rob Davison for the kosty brothers. Davison will help add toughness to the habs lineup. Also the kosty brothers won't be holding back good old french canadian boys like latandresse anymore and stealing his ice time.

I don't think there's would be any trouble getting Ohlund to waive it to come to Montreal, a lot of players like to play here.

And you're not getting spare parts, Latendresse is a young power forward, he's gonna score 30+ someday. And Maxwell is gonna be a good scoring 2nd line center.

We are still trading one of our top defensemen who is an absolute beast in the playoffs, and a young speedster who has the tools to score 30 as well as a first round pick in a deep draft. We would need a very signifigant return not a young prospect and 2nd round pick and guy who has actually gotten worse since his rookie year.

As some have already stated;

Van 1st = Mon 1st
Raymond > Latendresse
Ohlund > Maxwell

O'Byrne has barely any value.

Latendresse >= Raymond
1st = 1st

So it's basically a future number 3/4 d-man in O'Byrne and a future 2nd line scorer in Maxwell for an aging rental. Sounds fair to me.

It's 09 1st vs 10 1st, hardly =

Nahhhh for that overrated price of Ohlund, I wouldn't do that. Ohlund is worth a late first and a low-end prospect| mid prospect. Not one of the top prospect in Montreal,s prospect pool.

We're not stupid here in Vancouver you know! We know all you Habs fans are just trying to do is dump more players on us so that we use up our cap space and can't afford to sign Sundin. If Monteal wants Ohlund, Raymond and our 2009 fist round pick then Monteal is going to have to keep those players themselves.

It's either Ohlund, Raymond and our 2009 first round pick for Montreal's 2010 second round pick only or it's nothing! You aren't going to make a fool out of us. That's our right.
