Injury Question.

Alright, so during my practices, I hurt my wrist. I know I didn't break it, but I can't bend it backwards, and whenever I shoot or pass, it just becomes more of a problem. I think I jammed my wrist, and hurt my tendon. Does anyone know what I can do to speed up the recovery process?

See a Dr or physio.

Otherwise, rest it to let it heal quicker. Ice if it's swollen. Maybe a tensor bandage to support it. I'm not a medical expert, but in general that's how I've dealt with my injuries.

I've had a few times where I tried to get back to whatever activity I was doing too soon, re-aggravating, then having it go on much longer than desired.

Yeah, it was swollen pretty badly yesterday. I iced it, and I tried playing today, after about 10 minutes I got off the ice and talked to my coach, I'm not going to practice tomorrow, and most likely not Wednesday. I had the trainer look at it.

Wrap it up and don't use it.

I fell on my wrist 2 weeks ago, and I wrapped it up for 3 days, and it was feeling better so I practiced, and it didn't feel to bad, but then I played football Saturday and re-injured it.

I would wrap it up, and don't use it until there is no pain at all...

Also, coming off a knee injury I'd wrap it for extra support during the first few games/skates/weeks back. Having that extra layer of support to prevent re-injury seemed to help and it wasn't as sore after.

Yea support it, it should help. I don't know what the **** I did to my right wrist, but it doesn't hurt until I put backward pressure on it. Push ups hurt it the worst, but so does stick handling after a while, but it goes away quick after stick handling so it's no biggie.

Yup, I've been doing that, and it feels much better for a few hours.

Just keep it wrapped up and when it starts to feel better use it lightly. Barely stickhandle with your wrist still wrapped up. Try not to fall on it, that makes it worse...lol

I also heard this helps...

the guys are right here. wrapping it all day and not just for the game will help it the most. keep wrapping it for at least a couple games even after the pain seems to have subsided.

i wear two ankle braces and two knee braces full time (games only) now to prevent re-injury. one ankle brace i will wear during the day as well...funny seeing me role my ankle during a casual walk

That sucks man. Mine is still bothering me. I'm keeping it wrapped up all day, but I'm still playing. It's getting better little by little. I don't want to go to the doctor and have them tell me what they told you.

It's funny since I played with a broken arm for about a week. I think it's funny how I get a goal, an assist, and drew a couple penalties last week, when I had a broken arm.

The Doctor said it was a buckle fracture.

Seeing a doctor may be a good place to start.
