Basically AtlantaSportsFan randomly posted on our board a thread called Mike Richards is Cannon. The one that DeadPhish posted above. We had no idea what he meant or what he was talking about and Richards was tearing up and coming into his own at this point, so the name just stuck and it's just a random nickname.
As far as I figured out, PECO was an electric (power) company in Philadelphia. They signed a long term contract for this promotion when the Wachovia Center opened. They are now called Exelon I believe. Why the promotion still is called the same I don't know.

I'm probably missing the obvious, but would appreciate it. Thanks!
ill have to check back a lil but i saw one of the beat writers refer to carter as cannon and i was like "NO".
i actually prefer to refer to richards as canon a literary referance meaning accepted continuity apon which all future stories must be based around. or a fundamental rule that all argumnets must be based apon. mike richards is flyers canon.

Philadelphia Electric COmpany = peco. sorta perfect product placement for a power company which is why it stuck. im stil mourning the loss of "...scores for a case of tasteycakes" jeff carter could really be doing alot to help keep hungry kids eating krimpettes. mmm chocolate juniors.
