But it can say something. The worst +/-'s on the Kings right now? Preissing (ironic, is it not?), Gauthier (AHL defenseman), and Ivanans (waste of a good jersey and hockey stick)

Heck no, Cole and Nilsson have very little value.

What if he was 29 years old?

Why do people insist 30 is crazy old and useless?

Anyways, Phillips has a NTC, he's not going anywhere unless he wants to.

I'm a big Phillips fan and he's exactly what the Oilers need. The NTC is a critical factor but the fact that he's from Alberta might make it a possibility for him to waive it to come West. Perhaps wishful thinking on my part. With Phillips and Vermette underachieving this year, I think the Oilers and Sens could make a swap of players that maybe need a change of scenery...

Phillips, Vermette

for

Cole, Gilbert

The Oilers get more physical on the backend while the Sens get a puck-mover. That fits both teams needs. The Oilers get a solid faceoff guy that can PK and chip in offensively at times while the Sens get a more prominent secondary scoring option in Erik Cole that gives them a perfect fit in a top 6 RW. Cole, Vermette and Phillips all are struggling and may benefit from a move while Gilbert is a solid young offensive defensemen that the Sens could really use right now.

Everyone over 25 in this place is old.
A 30 year old gretzky wouldnt net a first around here.

What do you guys think it would take to get him to Mtl ?

He's exactly what we need, a big tough, defensive Dman to complete our top 4 ( albeit he's a No2 Dman on most team). He would look good with Hamrlik too.

Well he still has 4 years left on his contract with Ottawa and i doubt he wants to go anywhere, at least next year and maybe year after that so he will be like 33 when he could head to new team and i would say thats pretty old.

And yea 29 is fine but 30, you know, the 30 crisis

Want to give up Alfie too? He's six years older than Philips. Hell, Heatley's almost 30, we should get rid of him too. Smith's 34, he's a dinosaur, should let him go too, probably for a 7th pick the way this thread is rating defenseman.

Actually, i'd probably take a 7th for smith at this point.

That's because Francois Giguere isn't a very good GM.

Huet traded for a 2nd rounder.
Fedorov traded for a college player.
Stuart traded for a 2nd and a 4th.
Gill for a 2nd and a 5th.

Yeah 30 years old is way too old. Might as well trade him for O'byrne since he's 24 and younger is always better around here.

Many in Ottawa think he's the reason Chara put up such great numbers as a Sen and why Volchenkov seemingly broke out as his partner. Also Redden went from good Redden to bad Redden after switching from Phillips to Meszaros.

Something like a 1st, Stewart/Welch and someone from the AHL for Florida
He played forward a little for maybe a 2 year span, nothing like Schubert has done these past 2+ years.

He never played with Redden. Phillips played with Chara and Volchenkov. Redden has played with York, Salo, Rachunek, Volchenkov and Meszaros.

Stewart and Welch aren't very good "prospects".

Do you know how rare it is to find D-men as good as he is defensively who can skate as well as he can? Watch some Sens games and compare him to Volchenkov and Smith.

We have lots of young offensive D-men in the system and Kuba's a UFA this summer... we need a veteran D-man to lead our offense.

Phillips is much better than Gill or Stuart. Huet, Fedorov and Stuart were UFA's and Gill was a salary dump from a team desperate to move money, especially on defense.

Dude what's he done this season? He's fizzled and his trade value has as well. It's yesterday's news.

In 28 games? ... We need to join a hockey pool together next season. But don't tell anybody about your strategies, it would be better to surprise them when you fleece Craig Anderson away from me for Dany Heatley.

if all of these proposals are serious, it just proves phillips value to us is much more than anyone would offer. No deal on all counts.

Phillips is 30 years old... That's like ( (30 - 18 ) * 7 ) = 84 years old in prospect years!

Think about it!
