Hickey Named Captain of Team Canada

I just read on TSN that Hickey has been named the Captain of Team Canada for the WJC.

http://tsn.ca/world_jrs/story/?id=25...=topStory_main

Congrats to Hickey and Teubert for making the final cut for Team Canada.

I can't wait for the tournament to begin! Five Kings prospects representing their respective countries. What great story lines for Kings fans. Moller coming back from the NHL to captain team Sweden after a heartbreaking loss in the Gold medal game. Hickey, the captain of team Canada paired with Teubert and a chance at a fifth consecutive gold medal........at home in Ottawa. The resurgence of the Russians, and the roles that Loktionov and Voinov will take. A glimpse at the enigmatic team Finland, and their budding stars in Rajala, Haula and Nattinen. This is always a great tournament, but this year holds special interest to us Kings fans. Canada is always the team to beat, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Sweden win the gold.

And Esposito finally makes the Canadian team! I'm glad he managed to persevere after getting cut so many times before.

Agreed........I will love seeing those guys compete. But I am still an American so I hope the tournament is USA gold, Canada Silver and Sweden bronze.

Hell yea, although itīs more likely to go the other way around. But screw the realism and letīs go optimism.

Great to see Hickey named Captain Canada. Heīs also captain in Seattle so clearly he has some leadership qualites. Lombardi is always talking about character, Hickey seems to fit the bill.

Are people still going to
complain that he was picked too high?

I found it interesting that Hickey is actually four pounds heavier than Colten.

But with fewer Canadians, think of the savings in beer costs.

Interesting that Stoll was a captain for the WJC as well. Definately positioning this team to have the right personnel with all these good characters. Of course, too many leaders on one team could be an issue as well. Also Alzner was a captain last year, so remains to be seen whether Hickey has been able to differentiate himself from Alzner
