that kind of thinking doesn't seem to be working out to well for Atlanta, now does it?

be looking at.With the long term injuries to komi, higgins and dandanault
we shoul be able to fit this under the cap.

we all know Horton does not want to play for Martin and that Latendresse
will not get a real chance here. Plecanek was a no show last playoffs when
the games got rougher and Anthony Stewart needs a change of scenary
just like Latendresse.

what do you all think about this proposal.
i like it a lot, probably too much, which means that Florida would want more...
while they aren't a team that spends to the cap and apparently are looking to shed salary, Horton is their best young player loked into a long-term contract, so I don't see him being traded short of a pretty hefty overpayment.

Horton is only 2 years older, and has put up 3 seasons of 28, 31 and 27 goals. Latendresse can't even DREAM of coming close to this. He's almost put up more goals in one season than Latendresse has in his entire career. And he does not play soft. He actually drives to the net.

Horton is in another stratosphere compared to Latendresse. What you said is laughable.

Well Lats did score 16 goals two straight seasons while playing only 12 minutes per game and no PP time.

Horton had 27 in 19 minutes a game and alot of PP time.

I'm not saying Lats is better than Horton though.

How much longer are people going to milk this “16 goals for 2 straight seasons” crap?

Dagenais had 17 goals once.

Fact remains that despite some nice goal scoring totals, he is far away from an NHL player. Nathan Horton is the complete package. An actual PF centre who plays hard and has heart. And 40 goals is not just a fantasy for him, it is a realistic expectation that is 1-2 years away, especially on a good team.

I know you aren’t saying Lats is better than Horton, but you know there are people here who wouldn’t make that trade. Which absolutely boggles my mind because it is doubtful that Latendresse ever even becomes as good as Horton is today. Montreal would make that trade and laugh all the way to the bank with a proven 25-30 goal scoring centre who is gigantic and 23 years old.

Not a trade proposal, and i mentioned it in the sundin thread but if there was ever room available, would anyone consider signing Shanahan. He hasn't signed anywhere so im assuming he wouldnt cost much. He is a pure leader and would bring us some much needed grit. He isn't the fastest but hes got a great shot. I think his presence in the locker room would be his biggest asset to the team. We need a little more toughness and I think he would bring that.

Like you just did? One of my good friend is a Panthers posters on this site..and is considered pretty well respected.

From what he tells me, Horton isn't leaps and bounds the best forward. He has the potential to be but due to his laziness he isn't right now.

My impressions is due to the team's lack of success, his work ethic has gone down the drain.

To MTL: Tomas Kaberle

To TOR: Chris Higgins, David Fischer or Mathieu Carle and 2010 1st round pick

Do it Bob. Kaberle would likely come a little cheaper than J-Bo and he isn't set to be an UFA. He also has a really good contract.

I don't understand why people think Kaberle is going to get traded....he is the best bargain on the team and a solid player, he is one of the least likely to get traded from a logical standpoint.

He was benched and unhappy about it with trade rumours mentioned to him by an interviewer.Kaberle and Shanny would make the team so much better.

To Montreal
Jordan Leopold

To Colorado
Jaroslav Halak
Any one of the following: O'Byrne, Dandenault or Carle

To those who say, "BUT WHAT IF PRICE GETS INJURED", shush. I don't think Montreal ever cared about what to do when Patrick Roy was in net because they simply relied on him to carry the team. You don't worry about who will take his spot in the situation of an injury. That said, I'd wait til Carey was healthy before doing this

We're talking about the Leafs...

Seriously, Kaberle was traded last year but he refused to waive his NTC. Fletcher wanted to trade him. Now, we have to wait and see if Burke will entertain offers for him too.

The offer back was Jeff Carter +. It was a pretty stacked deal for Toronto and would have given them their replacement for Mats Sundin in the eyes of the fans (Carter is a tough London boy).

This kind of makes sense. By the way, as I'm typing this, Leopold just scored on a penalty shot against Detroit.

How isn't he that good? He has more grit than anyone on our top 9 combined. He defends his teammates, is a pain in the ass and can actually play like a powerforward. I know stats aren't everything but he has 10 goals and 9 assists playing on the Flyers 2nd line, he's everything the habs need and more.

I do not see a good reason to give our team away for Bowmeester... I much rather see BG target a guy like Morris or even Jovanovski? We have guys in the farm that will eventually be able to fill the whole there ... Assuming that one of Carle, Webber, Subban, Fisher will pan out.
