If they trade Jones later, bring Sbisa back, or Kukkonen. I think Sbisa is amazing, but he is 18, if we send him back for the rest of the year, then thats fine. Hes 18. I dont see how that could hurt him. I think hes starting to wear down a bit, and Id feel more comfortable with Alberts, Jones, Kukkonen down the stretch
If they send Sbisa back he's gone for the year. If they send Kukk's down he's not coming back.

Ossi > Alberts.

I would never rock an Alberts avatar.

As for the bolded, I disagree. Vaananen averages 5 more minutes of ice time and is matched up against better players. Alberts is best suited on the third-pairing and has played his best hockey in that role. Taking an average player out of his comfort zone by playing him against better talent and drastically increasing his minutes can lead to trouble (see: Vandermeer, Jim).

To be honest, I don't even know why I bothered responding to this. I should be asleep.
And Jones, Randy

I believe someone else stated this before, might have been Jester, but that rule is there to protect the canadian junior leagues, otherwise they may lose all their players to the AHL

Only if it was Hartnell drilling him into the boards.

Actually I am a Flyers fan, I just found the comment very distasteful. Hartnell almost ended Alberts career and he's making jokes about it...

Are you related to Alberts or something?

It's in the past, clearly they've gotten over it.

Alberts has played well lately. The one thing he has going for him is his size, that could be an argument for why to sit Sbisa over him. He can clear the porch and intimadate forwards. We clearly miss Hatcher in that regard. As far as sittin Vaananen, are you nuts? No way we sit him. And I also don't agree with breaking Vaananen and Timmonen up. They are both Fins and I think they play well together, obviously they have the communication thing going for them, leave that alone. Next is Coburn and Carle, why mess with that? When Briere is close to coming back Homers got decisions I think whoever said it earlier is right Lupul vs. Jones somebody's salary has gotta go.

alberts has been pretty solid for us

timo ossi
coburn carle
jones alberts

thats how id do it for now.one good puck mover on each line, one big guy on each line

sbisa stays and rotates in with alberts....parent goes to phantoms...kukks is odd man out

plus there is a chance we have an injury, so its nice to have nhl ready guys around to fill in....too many d is not a bad thing...dont go trading away guys for no reason

it wouldnt surprise me if coburn is put on the 3rd pairing as a lil kick in the rearend to try and get him motivated. when we have 7 d in the lineup there will be a healthy competition for icetime. whoever plays best plays more simple as that.

Gotta think what's best for us. Sbisa might have more upside, but him going down is going to help us in the long run. Keep Alberts, he's earned it.

Is Alberts finally getting it together for you guys? We thought he was going to turn into a good solid shutdown kind of guy.

He was always willing to hit but usually got out of position to do it, frequently made bad plays with the puck, and really sucked at fighting although he threw down every once and a while.

For a brief period of time where he was paired with Chara it looked like he "got it" but in retrospect it was probably just Chara covering for his weaknesses.

He was pretty terrible for the first few games actually (See: Game Puck Thread), but for a few weeks now he's been very solid. I'm actually really starting to like him as a player. Definitely wouldn't place him on the top two pairings, but very good 5-6 defenseman IMO.
