Time to cut the BS-This Team is Injured!

Losing by one goal... and often out-shooting the opposition... they are hardly being destroyed... only edged.

Price, Komisarek, Koivu, Higgins (yes Higgins)

4 important leaders out of the line-up

enough said!

Get theses 4 back and make the powerplay average and the Habs will be on their way to a playoff berth.

cut the panic

I agree, way too early to panic. If this was February and we were in the same position I would be worried. Lots of time left, our competitors will face adversity as well.

Didn't get the memo that prior to these injuries, that team was playing incredibly well....

People have a short memory, Higgins was a waste of space was he? Then, how many games did Halak really cost 'cause of Price's absesnce. The MOST important piece here is Koivu and Komisarek who finally might not have been so bad after all....

But then, how many teams have done pretty good with their injuries? It's not a reason over a short period of time to not do well without those guys....we were not exactly playing NHL powerhouses.....Things might not be as bad as it appears.....but using the injuries excuse is not the greatest invention as well.....

'Cause if so.....last year's great season could be perceive as a result of injuries...of ALL the other teams around us....

He still is... the guy is a non factor.

The two players that we really miss are Koivu and Komisarek.

I'll write what I posted in the other thread:

I do think there are concerns on this team, potentially big concerns if things don't change soon.

That said, I think our biggest concern right now is injuries.

However, I think our concerns are a bit deeper than most of the optimists claim them to be. For one, we're having trouble scoring goals, and it's not just on the PP. Our abysmal PP is certainly not helping things, but our 5 on 5 scoring is not as good as it was last season, despite what a lot of posters seem to be saying these days. We're 15th in the league right now for 5 on 5 scoring; we were 9th in the league last season. I don't think I need to bother even bringing up the PP comparisons from this year and last year because they're obvious. So, not only is 5 on 5 scoring inferior, but so is our PP.

And then there's the whole "we have more points than last season" argument. Maybe we do, but I think that's sort of irrelevant. Most of the teams in the top 8 have more points than last season as well, I think that has to do more with a greater disparity between the good teams and the bad teams then us actually being "better".

If anything, I believe we were a better team last year judging by the performance of our team, but the season still remains young and I believe this team can put it together for the playoffs...for now anyways.

There are some very real concerns if things don't change after the holidays though, and I do think that there is potential to miss the playoffs if things don't change.

And other teams are injured too!!! We lost miserably to Washington with 4 AHL defensemen, without Semin and Fedorov and a few other guys. We lost to Washington with their AHL goalie in nets. Other teams find a way to win. We had 3 offensive lines to start the year, how come none of these guys can score anymore?

Also, some of the guys who replaced our injured players are doing great. D'Agostini produced more than Higgins in a shorter amount of time.

One thing which could somewhat easily be tried is to bring in an new assistant offensive coach

Someone with a fresh voice and new perspective that the players would listen to...

How about Mike Bossy?

10 seasons... 573 goals

(just a long shot fantasy, I guess)

Even with all the injured players in the lineup our offense was struggling.

Every team has injuries.

There is no excuse for the recent performances.

Did you know Brian Bellows came really close to 500 goals?

And Gretzky is what exactly?

Bossy is working with the Isles... but he surely would know how to get this attack going...

The team plays different in front of Price than in front of Halak.

I realize it's strange. I didn't think that would be the case either, but there it is.

What would HF boards be without at least 5-6 panic threads after each loss?

God knows we need these "player X in Hamilton is way better than player Y in Montreal, let's call him up and all our problems are solved" threads.

He's been good since coming back. Blocking shots and hitting people, what he does best.

Plus not having O'Byrne and Brisebois in the lineup at the same time makes a big difference.
