We'll see come playoffs. He's been really inconsistent, but he did great against montreal, made some amazing saves. Ask again come playoffs.

He has shown signs of being elite at times this season, I agree, we shall see come playoff time if he is worth taking up 5.8mill on the salary cap.

Kiprusoff is worth a few nights off now and then. Even if McElhinney doesn't strike Keenan as being a "closer"

Kipper isn't a bad goalie, but there are only 60 goalies in the NHL, the difference in starting goalies isn't really that huge. With kippers numbers going down each year, I knew we should have signed him for 3. Still a very good goaltender at this point, but he's lost something..

What do you mean, you know we should have signed him for three? You sound as if a) you know something no one else knows, and b) Kiprusoff would have taken $3 per.

Isn't that we signed him to last contract? Think a little bit more before posting something assinine like this.

I meant sign him for 3 years, not for 3 million. I imagined he would have signed for anywhere between 5-7 million, but I wanted a shorter deal than the 5 years he got. With his numbers going down, I wasn't comfortable with him being on a long-term deal. That doesn't even include the fact we have 4 young goaltenders in our system.

And I didn't know anything someone else does, and I just explained why I said that. There is no need to flame, and I apologize if it came out as 3 million per year as I'm quite aware kipper would want more.

Either he or his agent instilled fear in Sutter that that the UFA option might be worth exploring. Somebody blinked.

Huet got a little less than Kipper in UFA and Theodore also wasn't that far off. If Kipper went to UFA he'd be making more than he is right now.

not necessarily as both of those teams paid their goalies less (theodore is 4.5) and both are up against the cap. There really isn't many teams who can afford 5-6+ million for goaltenders.

wow. New member, (like I am, though a lurker for a long time), and starts a thread to trade Kipper. No "hello I am a Flames fan," just gets right into it. Kippers a great goalie and has worked hard for our team. Not sure the motive of the threadstarter.

Well Kipper started out real rough but has more than proven to me he is our guy unless someone better surfaces. I must say I am also impressed with McE against Detroit, his save percentage and GAA is great... now if McE can start winning some games to put the pressure on Kipper as it appears he thrives under pressure. Just my thoughts.

my motive is that Kipper sucks, and the flames should trade him for a hockey stick

Wow that was intelligent! Are you going to replace Sutter next?

Sure everyone has players they like and dislike but Kipper is not dog ****. His stats are starting to look much better and he is second in the NHL in the only stat that matters.... wins! So with that said Kipper is worth the 5.8 cap hit IMO

And why would somebody want to take on this "8 million" only to get a player who sucks?

At least the hysteria of the thread title has some comic value. Before the current winning streak, an alternative might've been "dump Kiprusoft NOW."
