Yeah they were due for a regulation loss.
Asham's line and Nitty were good. But no one could hit the damn net or bury it!!!!! Very frustrating. How many times did we hear "______ shoots, but it goes wide" ? Far too many.

Crappy loss, but I was kinda expecting it today tbh. Hopefully they manage to stay out of a prolonged slump now and get back to playing good hockey.

Guess sometimes I forget that even though they are hight paid and highly trained athletes, they are still just human who can still suffer the slings and arrows of mere mortals.

Still
Second in the division
Fourth in the conference
Sixth in the league.

not a bad Christmas present!!!

Carle was really bad.
Lupul was invisible.

The rest of the team was just average.

I am surprised Asham did not get 3rd star of the game 1G, 1A and 8 hits. Upsham and Metro also looked very good.

Penalties finally catching up with us. We are giving up at least 1PPG a game now.

Nice to win against the hottest team in the league right now; Flyers have a few guys the Habs need to play like... Komisarek was back which is exactly what we needed against a tough team like Philly. Cheap shot by Hartnell on Andrei K though on a sour note; that guy practices knee checks for sure.

Good luck until we meet again, nice to see good eastern rivalries developing!

Cheers!

Maybe you didnt see your boy Komisarek go ridiculously low on Sbisa late in the 3rd?

Not a complete shock.

The Habs needed a win, Komisarek in the lineup is big for that team.

Great effort by the energy guys tonight.

This game absolutly sucked.

I felt like it was so one sided the entire time, and the refs were terrible. To top it all off, i cant stand listening to those ****ing annoying habs fans.

I can't stand their fans. They do a stupid soccer chant, wrong sport. Sure, a lot of Euros live in Canada and a lot of them love soccer. But, do you see Americans do the wave at hockey because we love baseball? No. I hope we meet them in the playoffs again.

Stop talking about their fans. That's not the issue at hand.

I watched this game at local bar filled with habs fan, me and my buddy were the only guys cheering for the flyers... Long night to say the least(surprising amount of free beers and shots though haha).

The Flyers certainly did not look like a team that had lost only one game in the last 17. Richards and Carter lines looked absolutely slopy, I'm really wondering if they got hammered in Montreal the previous night or something because that was a really bad showing.

I think the team looked very similar to the game in Toronto. I guess we just have some problem with Canadian teams (lost to Toronto, lost to Ottawa, lost to Edmonton, lost twice to the Habs and only won one game against the Habs).

If it's only a bump the same size as the Toronto game, I can live with that.

Well you'll be disapointed to hear that they do the wave a whole lot in Montreal too. And your opinion is pretty stupid, btw. (On this subject at the least)

Brent Johnson starts tomorrow and Semin is questionable...

Varlamov Disappointed, But Understands
After Simeon Varlamov was demoted this morning, Sport-Express reporter Slava Malamud got a hold of the young goalie and translated a brief interview for me. Here's what Varlamov had to say:

"I'm a little bit disappointed," Varlamov told Malamud. "But I was kind of expecting it because they told me in advance that it might happen. Of course, it's not very pleasant when you play well and you get sent back to the farm right away. But I understand what's going on."

Asked about GM George McPhee's comments about him needing to adjust to rigors of playing in North America, Varlamov said, "I agree with that. I need to get acquainted with the schedule and I need to learn how to recover quickly because there is less time for it here. Maybe I need to go easier in practices if I know that I'm going to play. Maybe instead of spending one hour on the ice before a game, maybe I should spend a half hour."

Varlamov said he learned of his demotion this morning when he spoke (through an interpreter) with goalie coach Dave Prior.

Mike Green said he'll be ready to face the Flyers in Philly tomorrow afternoon, but Alexander Semin is questionable (at best) for what might be the most anticipated game of the season for the Caps.

Some other tidbits from practice:

*Semin's chances of playing tomorrow? "He's a treatment and day-to-day kind of guy," Boudreau said. "I'm hoping he can play tomorrow, but you never know."

I know, I know, they just get my blood going. Honestly, I don't think I could do what you did and, watch a game in a bar surrounded by habs fans.
