He can play either, which is why he is a valuable player.

His stats so far this season mean nothing. When the top-2 on the club aren't even having that great of seasons, you know something is wrong. Their team is ran like **** and everyone is suffering (Vrbata, Jokinen, etc).

Jokinen is only on the books for $1.875M this season and he's an RFA next year. We'd be stupid not to put in a claim.

Why? He's not that bad.. He averaged 48pts in his last 3 seasons? You can't just give up on a guy like that because he's having a bad season. he's even a RFA??

Tampa

I guess they've thrown in the towel on the season and have started to try and decrease expenses through salaries.

There is something going on in Tampa, those owners are crazy, there is a rumor that those guys would go in the locker room and act like coaches (Bergeron said it, he's a clown and a idiot). They are just too bad at owning a hockey team.

I bet Jokinen woke up to the news and was probably the happiest person in the world.

Maybe he did put himself on waivers by filling the paperwork himself and calling the league official pretending he was Mclean...

Bingo....

Now if only some team picks him off waivers... I'm sure the owners are keeping their fingers crossed.

Or similarly make a trade for a top 4 dman and a top level forward and use the NHL ready depth in Hamilton (MaxPac, Maxwell, Chipchura, D'Ago (already here).

We simply have too many good, but not great forwards.

I looked at his stats and he does have 6 goals this year. Thats not bad really and he is great in the shootout. I doubt bob picks him up but I think some other teams might be interested (like Ottawa they would kill for a guy with 6 goals making under 2 million a year right now...)

Isn't Jokinen one of the best shootout guys in the league? That could be an asset as well. I bet he goes back to Dallas, I'm sure Dallas liked him but dealt him for the better player -> Richards

This is his signature move:

But what made him really good with that move, is that when a goalie was aware of the move and would go out on the backhand side of the shot, Jokinen would bring it back to the left side and shoot it top net. I saw him several times doing that when he was in his tremendous sequence of 8 or 9 straight goals in shootouts.

i would love to get jokinen, mostly because of the shootouts and because he can play center or wing, when injuries happen, he would be able to be plugged in at center for instance

however, is it worth taking on 1.85 million in salary, almost giving us no space whatsoever to help the habs fix their biggest problem? An offensive top4 defenseman....

i dont think so, pass unless we can afford both, im greedy that way

I don't care what anyone says, I believe Jussi is a good player, more of a Role Player, that would do well if he was on a team using him as a role player. EX: Montreal (if they start using role players (Komi shutdown)Detroit( Holmstrom)) Tampa is just a failure of a Hockey Team.

No interest from the Habs on any level.
1 for 7 this year, 18 for 36 all-time. He was lights out in Dallas, but in Tampa he can't score. Maybe goalies figured out he only has 2 moves.

I think if Dallas had a little more Cap room, they'd go and get him back. They were doing much better with him in the line-up...

I love this board. There's been a thread for every single castoff that's ever been put on waivers.

Nevermind having to be patient with Plekanec, Higgins, the Kostitsyns, keeping Chipchura in the minors...let's take up another roster spot + kill cap room with a forward that can't stay on one of the worst teams in the league. Good idea.

**** you, Martin St.Louis. You started this crap.
