Butler, Ellis in; Gaustad, Paetsch out

Quote:
The Sabres have added some blue-line help in the form of big defenseman Chris Butler. The University of Denver prospect was called up from Portland after registering 12 points and a minus-3 rating in 27 games, and will skate with Teppo Numminen in place of Nathan Paetsch.

Buffalo has also recalled center Matt Ellis from the Pirates. Ellis played seven games with the Sabres to start the season as Paul Gaustad recuperated from another injury, and now repercussions from an upper body injury will keep Gaustad out of the line-up for Friday's home game against the Kings, and doubtful for Saturday's contest in Montreal.
I'm guessing Goose has a minor concussion. I have nothing to base this on other than a feeling. Unless he has a broken jaw. Thats about all I can image would account for lingering effects form getting hit in the chin with a shot.

****ing ****** if Goose is out for an extended period again. He was just getting his game back on a nice smooth track.

Hypothetically, if this is a concussion for Gaustad, what number is it?

MacArthur

Ellis fits the 4th line mold. MacArthur does not.

Ellis will get sent back down. Unfortunately this won't be an issue for a bit. The lineup will be determined by who is or isn't playing well at that time.

Unlucky.

He missed 3 games (head) in 05-06, as well as one game due to illness.

06-07--2 games to an upper body injury, and then 26 regular season + 9 postseason games due to Heatley stepping on his ankle.

And now 07-08 9 games for a thumb injury, and now this one game.

Nothing there screams "injury-prone". I think we can all agree his one major injury (ankle) was a freak thing, and the thumb injury as well. The few games here and there I can live with for a guy who plays as physical as he does. He hasn't been sidelined for an extended period of time with a concussion (or concussion-like symptoms) yet, which would be worrisome.
