Anyway, looking forward to a good game tonight.
Just shows you the lenght at which the Hurricanes will go to get a penalty, diving head first into ****.

I am not denying that he, at times, has been a little floppy. he sure isnt the only one. but that hit alone was bad on hamrlik.
Hamrlik's hit was another exemple of a player who turn his back at the last second... Hamrlik is in no way a dirty hitter! it deservd a boarding penalty!

but the fact that staal stayed on the ice for a good while like he was almost dead trying to sell to the refs that Hammer deserves a major, and then he is back on the ice not even 30 seconds later like nothing happened!

what about the dive on Tanguay's penalty (i dont know by who)... it was an "Avery level" dive...

made him look like an idiot, he showed no ill affects right after that play. Staal has always been a diver, even back in his junior years !

Agree. That hit was all Staal fault. I don't believe Harmlik even took one stride to hit him, he only used his (amazing...) arms power to push him in the boards. It was the case of a player purposely turning his back to face the boards and without strength in his legs.

I only got to see that last half of the game the last time the habs played the canes... but I just want to say that whether the officiating was fair or not, the habs were just plain outworked and when that happens, you are usually a step behind the other team, which causes penalties.

Having said that, I cant believe some things that were being let go after such a penalty fest. Like D'agostini taking 1 or 2 clear and intended punches to the face in the last minute of the game from gleason. The ref saw it but thought nothing of it. I've heard of clearing the net, but last I checked, delivering head shots was not the correct method to clear the crease.

As for staal, yeah, he pisses me off with the embellishments, but there is a sense of reckless abandon to his game that draws alot of penalties. As a Carolina poster aleady said, there's many in the league that do this. We have them on our team too.

Wait, so you are saying that there is no way that he felt hurt and was in major pain right after the hit and then was able to shake it off? I have seen it happen many times in hockey, and many times in football, where a player gets hit hard, or lands wierd, etc and is in much pain, cant move that extremity, and then a few minutes later it has stopped hurting and they are able to get back out there.

Yea it does happen all the time. I don't know why people are complaining about this. The refs made the right call on that play. Nothing was dirty and no player was faking.
