Paul Maurice

Alright, so I was watching the post game videos of last nights game, and Paul Maurice said something i didnt like very much:

http://watch.tsn.ca/nhl/clip123549#clip123549

He basically said " On the first goal that got called off, they got away with a penalty. You know, you can't kick the goalie, that's usually a penalty, I dont know about in this province, but it usually is....The second one, well I mean they got one 30 seconds later so it's ok right?" It was a bit different, just listen to the clip.

Does he not remember when his team took out Roloson in the playoffs?! Or when they took out Koivu with no freaking call on the play?!?!

This comming from a coach that couldn't hold a job in Toronto.

He sounds like an idiot !

Everytime I see Samsonov being interviewed, I keep waiting for him to start screaming, "The Ring, Frodo!...The Ring!".

That was Maurice's attempt at being funny with the "in this province schtick."....we'll see who's laughing at the end of the season.

That's what Maurice does. He makes smug unfunny jokes after the game, rather than talk about how his team played. He did it all last year in Toronto, and continues to do it this season. The good thing is, we'll see a lot less of him, because he's coaching a team that nobody cares about and they're done their series with the Habs this year.

just a dumb choice of words...

He should have said "in this building" instead of "in this province".

It's not news to us that many opposing coaches and players feel they are up against it when they play in the Bell Centre. They feel the fans effect the refs and the refs call the game in our favour. It's probably just a bi-product of our winning home record. Loosing teams look for excuses.

Maurice's case is wierd since they won the game (why does he need an excuse) and they just benefited from 11 minor penalties last week against us (in their barn).

Truth is, he probably didn't think much about his comments.

Maurice should get some rest, those bags under his eyes are getting so big airport staff won't allow them in the passenger section, he'll have to start checking them in.

You do realize Maurice wasn't with the Canes 4 weeks ago, let alone 4 years ago?

He's a media person. Calm with the media, cracks jokes and such. I don't think he meant harm. It was just sarcasm. Don't think it means anything specific about this province. As much as an idiot he can be, he isn't an *******.

Actually, he left during the 2004 season, so technically, yes he was there 4 years ago.

I've seen that replay and still don't see how Kosto kicked Ward. The puck went in but it was whistled down beforehand because the refs thought Ward had it. Maurice was just trying to defend his team's lucky ass victory. Hey the Habs could have done better but when you score 4 times but lose 3-2 in OT, it's ridiculous. Especially when the refs ignore infractions they called ad nauseum in the game at Carolina earlier this week. Maurice needs to chill and have some camomile tea.

No he wasn't, he replaced by Laviolette during the 2003/2004 season.

The bright side is that Laviolette is a much better coach than Maurice.
