Not hard considering they've sold their souls to the devil.

The AHL BearS are gettINg loTs of NHL Experience since half the Caps line-up is out with an injury. God help us when the guys start getting flu on top of the injuries! We'll see the Stingrays up here then.

It would a Christmas miracle if the Caps/Bears win tonight. Caps find a way to win it.

no news about call-ups as of this morning

Theodore is not officially listed as day to day so unless something happened yesterday, I'd expect Johnson to get the start and Theodore to be the backup as has been reported.

On D, I assume Helmer will get recalled given it appears Sloan is the one without a d partner. If they need a second dman recalled, depending on whether Sloan will dress for the game, I assume it will be Lepisto.

With the forwards, recalls depend on Brashear and Steckel, they could need 2 recalls. Perhaps 1 or 2 of Mink, Osala, Aucoin, Gordon or Bourque? (I asume Aucoin would be recalled as a center before Wilson.)

I say call up Laing, Gordon and Helmer.

Ovechkin-Backstrom-Kozlov
Flash-Laich-Fehr
Giroux-Nylander-A.Gordon
Laing-Gordon-Bradley

Alzner-Jurcina
Morrisonn-Collins
Sloan-Helmer

I hate injuries.

With Semin out of the lineup, I would hope they would call on Bourque if they need an offensive forward.

With Poti and Green out of the lineup, they have no offense on the blue line. Lepisto please

About Laing, I don't have the info. in front of me, but I thought he had to clear re-entry waivers this season once he got sent down due to his contract terms. I do not believe that re-entry waivers can be bypassed even under emergency conditions. See Montreal losing Hainsey on re-entry waivers as an example.

Very interested to see if Gordon suits up, and how he plays if given a sweater. I've heard nothing but exemplary things about his character (both in media and elsewhere), but it's how it shakes out on the ice that is important. Quite an opportunity.

so if Gordon plays...

34 players have dressed for a regular season game this year:

20F: Aucoin, Backstrom, Bourque, Bradley, Brashear, Clark, Fedorov, Fehr, Fleischmann, Giroux, A. Gordon, B. Gordon, Kozlov, Laich, Mink, Nylander, Osala, Ovechkin, Semin, Steckel

11D: Alzner, Collins, Erskine, Green, Helmer, Jurcina, Lepisto, Morrisonn, Poti, Schultz, Sloan

3G: Johnson, Theodore, Varlamov (and no I am not counting Leonhardt)

did I miss anyone?

Do they need to put a "B" on Gordo's nameplate now? Or can they simply do "Gordon" and "A Gordon"

Or can they call them both "Gordon"?

Johnson's too sick, Theodore is getting the start.

This is ****ing ridiculous. Makfi's trademark characteristic is patience. I hope it's a wise course. I'd consider moving assets at this point to reinforce the defense and be making calls over the break.

OTOH, I'm not a part of the organization (which I think we can all be thankful for).

The comments you have heard are well-deserved, IMO. It's easy to root for him to succeed. He almost always has a smile on his face and works hard during practice and games and another one that gives a fun interview. From his approach to being sent down to SC near the start of last season and agreeing to return for the ECHL playoffs to his contributions and role on the team this season. This is a great opportunity for him and he earned the call up. It's time for Andrew Gordon to show the NHL his quick release on his shot.

(With the call-up, the Caps say Happy Belated Birthday to Gordon and an early Merry Christmas.)

OT: The Caps 2004 draft
