Im surprised san jose was considered one of the best hockey cities. I know they have a relatively good fanbase for a western team that plays in the south, but i guess people there actually like hockey.

LOL, Marc Savard received votes for both most overrated and most underrated player.

I think they sold out every game for the first 10 years of their franchise. Something ridiculous like that. Anyways, it's a loud building and they have a relatviely good fanbase for an NHL team. For a western team, they have a phenomenal fanbase. Unless you are comparing them to Vancouver but who can really compare with the Canadian teams other than New York? The weather is really nice here and cultural riches of San Francisco are just an hour's drive away. It's definitely no New York but as a hockey city, I think it definitely deserves to be on that list. I'd even say San Jose fans as a whole are better and more knowledgable than Chicago fans. It's just Chicago is a more proper city and gets original 6 cred. I think I'd place Boston before Chicago. Nashville supposedly has a great fanbase. Too bad they look like idiots when they do the "Fang Fingers."

Well...sorta. If you count the fishsticks as a team.
And thats if you want to count the Sabres as part of the city.

They ment the NY Islanders as #1, not the Rangers.

Chip - good post, the whole thing is arbitrary, nothing scientific about it, so since it isn't measureable, everybody is just voicing opinions anyway.

NY is definitely one of the best cities, but I don't think you can define as the best. I don't think there is a definitive way to define "best" city. Each city has their own qualities that makes it a great hockey city.

Others receiving votes ... San Jose, Boston, Calgary, Nashville
that right there means that this list can not be taken seriously.
