Icant see how Phillips could take more than Nilsson and Greb. Seems like a great package to me. It gives you guys more depth on offense and yes Grebeshkov isnt as solid as Phillips but he is a great two way defenceman. I think Ottawa could use a good puck moving defenceman i cant really think of any they have other than Kuba and maybe Volchenkov.
Picard?

Nilsson and Greb is a decent package for Philips; throw in a mid level draft pick and it would be even more tempting. Problem is, the Sens won't be sending Phillips anywhere. He's well established in the community and like Alfie, he'll prolly be a Sen for life. As far as Vermette is concerned, the Sens won't be trading him for a draft pick. You captured one of the Senators needs when you mentioned a puck moving d (although your example of Vochenkov as a puck moving d is a little off the chart - he's more of a stay at home defensive specialist), but the Sens are also desperate for some secondary scoring. Losing Vermette for a 2nd rounder only complicates things further.

Seems to address both team needs.
Grebs a top 4 offensive D man, and Nilsson a 2nd line creative player.

What is wrong with this deal?
Room for Brian Lee and Erik Karlsson in the future, cap space to sign a secondary forward, Phillips being a lifetime Senator.

Do you see the person in the image? He's putting the palm of his hand on his face. The reason: He can't believe some of the **** that he's seeing. Same reaction, same purpose.

Also, Picard has been very good for the Senators so far. That shows how much you know, doesn't it? First, you miss on Phillips, and now you miss on Picard. What are you going to say next, that Volchenkov can't shut down players?
