if garth traded streit this season, it would destroy ANY chance he has of
luring "coach k" down from montreal if he hits free agency. not that garth has a huge chance of doing so even with streit on the island but, having him there does help his chances.

I like this trade but the thing is, Kelly and Schubert aren't useful to the Isles. Streit is a really, really important player for this team and we have a wealth of players of Kelly/Schubert's type (Hilbert, Park, Sillinger, Sim, Jackman, Colliton, Walter, ad infinitum)
The rest of the trade is right but we need top 6ers or prospects.
I'm afraid not. The Sens are unlikely to part with their 25 year old franchise center for Streit and and a mid round draft pick. Comrie is a UFA and won't be back next year and even if he was, there's no way this would happen. Sorry...
Good proposal. But I'm afraid that it would be very tough for me to say that the Isles would move thier #1 d-man. Streit's been fantastic and with our decimated blueline we need all the help we can get now and going forward. I am tempted alot by Lee. But I can't see us moving a real good d-man in Striet whose signed to a pretty good contract.

I hear ya...I'd love to be able to offer the likes of Zubov or Foligno instead, but due to salary cap restrictions, the Sens would have to send some salary back as Comrie and Streit make more than 8 mil/seson.
This is actually a pretty good offer. I think that you would have to substitute Chris Kelly for Mike Fisher. Still one of the best deals I've seen here in a long time.

I thought about Fisher, but the stakes would be too high for the Sens in that scenario. The only other player would be Vermette. Would Isles' fans rather see Vermette substituted for Kelly in this deal, or do you scoff at either player and laugh in my face! I have to say though, the mere idea of seeing Vermette go in this deal kinda makes me cringe. Maybe that means it's a fair offer though!?!
I d think that Streit is one of the few untouchables on the Islanders.
Well I'd love to have him here in Ottawa, or a player like him. His presence would help ease some pressure off guys like Phillips, Volchenkov, and Picard - who are probobly trying to do a little too much right now.
