considering the alternative was him probably being traded, 3 is better than none.
Everyone has to remember too though, that quite a few people thought that 5 million was too much for a scorer that hadn't "broken out" yet. No one knew that he would be going this strong so early into the season. Hell i'm pretty sure we would of all taken 30-35 goals from carter this year. At the moment the contract looks good for him and the flyers. We would all like a longer contract now, but back then 3 years was enough
I think carter likes it here, he won here with the phantoms, experienced the playoffs here, and got to see what the town is like when the phillies won. Unless the flyers are way way off on the money, which is highly unlikely, carter isn't going anywhere. I don't think any player would turn down the flyers if the money is close, they have passionate fans, one of the best owners in the game, top notch practice facilities, no corners cut anywhere.(they do that father son trip, etc) Even after a bad bad year, they still got kimmo and danny to come, probably offering a bit less than some clubs. Even lupes said he felt tougher just putting the jersey on.
The flyers have something going for them that allot of teams don't though. Philadelphia is a sports town. They have top fans for every team there, and the wach will always be full. Just look at the ****** season we had. They still had better attendence's than half the league
