Sheeesh. I wish Edmonton could attract free agents like Blake, O'Neill, and Finger. Mats says "Hi" but he couldn't stay

Just because those are Red Wings prospects I would take that deal...could be the next Lidstrom and Hasek

They could offer that but the Oilers could get a lot more.I know Detroit has a solid 6 defenseman but how long does Ericsson have before he becomes a bust? I really don't know much about McCollom but the Oilers have JDD, and Dubnyk in the system. I'll have to see how he does during the WJC.
Detroits first round picks really have no more value than an early 2nd rounder.

Hemsky would only be traded for a top line roster player(but won't be traded at all)

Ericsson could be up here playing right now. Too bad we do not have any cap space.

Tell you what. I will add Kopecky too.

Talk about overvaluing your players...

That trade is lopsided, from the Florida side of things.

The way i look at that deal:

Bouwmeester,Horton= Hemsky
Booth<<<<<<<Gagner,2nd

Gagner is the future of the franchise and Hemsky's contract is just too good right now.

I hope I'm just reading this wrong, but you can't possibly be saying Hemsky's value is that of Bouwmeester AND Horton combined, can you? If so, that's right up there with the most ridiculous things I've ever read on HF, and that's saying something.

What do you think a 1st line RW scoring at a 1.1 points per game signed through the 2012 season at a ridiculous contract of 4.1 cap hit is worth? Alot.

say what you want but Bouwmeesters overrated and is looking for Phaneuf type money Horton is good not Hemsky good. If Hemsky didnt have a good contract I dont think he is worth that much but... he is.

Bottom line is that the Oilers don't trade Hemsky unless there is a massive overpayment from the other side. Horton = Hemsky? Not a chance.

Hemsky is top 10 in scoring in the West (on one of the weakest offensive teams), with less games played. He is 25yo, not even in his prime yet.

His long-term, cheap contract, excellent performance, high ceiling make his value much higher than if it is just considered on performance alone.

Say what you want, but J-Bo is far from "over-rated," and is currently playing the best hockey of his career. If the Panthers fail to re-sign him, J-Bo will probably garner a king's ransome at the TDL from some desperate team. Horton is signed long term to a below market contract.

What type of return would you consider a king's ransom?

Given Hemsky's cheap contract and level of play, along with JayBo's impending UFA and Horton's intensity issues(leading him to consider retiring, from some reports), yeah I'd say that would be about right.

And we aren't trading Hemsky. He's our entire offense.

Bouwmeester has zero playoff experience so I don't think teams would pay as much as say a Phillips, or Markov. JBO is overrated! Puts up decent numbers in the weakest division in the NHL.

BTW Phillips has 2 goals, 5 assists and a -17 rating this season. But, you are entitled to your opinion...
