The Stefan one is waaaay funnier but O'Byrne putting it into his own net is more embarrassing.

Stefan's is more of a blunder, so I picked him, but Mon lost to NYI in OT because of that.

Lots of o'Byrnes happen.

Steve Smith own-goal, Cloutier letting in Lidstrom's shot from center ice, Bergevin THROWING the puck into his own net, Cherry getting the too-many-men.... all in the playoffs.

Still, I'd vote for the Stefan. That is insane. I still watch it at least once a month. Oh man.

Stefan for sure. I remember being there at the game i was laughing my ass off too hard i couldnt cheer for the goal. Stefan was looking all hot dogish and than you could just see it hop over his stick, but the most amazing part about that was edmonton scored right after. I still can't believe how crazy that play was.

Pretty bad for a former 1st OVERALL PICK! Where the hell is he now?

How about the 197 ft. goal on Toskala last year?

Stefan's was funnier and more embarrassing. A really fluky series of events that will never happen again, I'm sure.

Stefan by far.

If he just kept it in the corner, it just would've been something to laugh at.

If he just tapped it, it would've went in the net.

There are so many easy possibilities for the goal and/or the Stars win that didn't happen.

Auld scoring Roenick's 500th goal for him?

of the two choices, O'Byrne's was more embarrassing.

Stefan. If that doesn't sum up his career I don't know what does...........

There's been stuff before about a player shooting the puck into his own empty net, it happens a couple times a year usually a centering pass from the other end of the ice that is intended for a defenseman. But I am not sure if we will see Stefan's thing happen again for 100 years.

Exactly, as unbelievably stupid as it was, you take the same exact scenario and play it 100 times and 98 times the Oilers don't score. Stefan misses and the Oilers end up with some crappy last second shot from the blue line and we all laugh at it for a month or so and forget about it. The Oilers beating all odds and scoring just make it the ultimate epic failure with everything that could possibly go wrong going wrong.

Well, not exactly. The Stars still won the game.
