In regards to Tjarnqvist and Sutton, usually European players are offered more to entice them to play in North America rather than stay in Europe. Maybe Tjarnqvist is still on his first thrasher contract and Sutton is still on his contact that he had in place with the Wild. Whatever the case around $1mil for Sutton and Tjarnqvist is a reasonable price considering both had good last seasons.
Glad to see this is official. He should work out just fine for you guys. Hopefully not too much if you're going to be battling Buffalo for a final spot, though. With any luck we'll be a few spots up and I can root for the Thrashers to make it, too.
feh. Can't complain too loudly about this move as I'd rather have Mellanby than Vigier out there. However, I was hoping for a bit more glamour for that second line winger spot. Figure he's interchangeable with McEachern as a veteran character guy
Yahoo says its a one yr deal but a lot of reports say he was looking for a 2 yr deal and there's been no other confirmation either way. Anyone have an idea about the length of his contract? Also, one of the things that he was seeking from FL was a front-office job after he retired (initially he wanted $150,000/yr for the job but seemed willing to take $100,000/yr). Any word on if the Thrashers would do something like this? I know his father was working with the organization before so that may also make it a possiblity.
