Question for Hab fans.

Did he really tail off over the last 2 seasons with the Habs? Because during his time in Toronto, he was somewhat inconsistent, but he was still a very useful player.

Did he slow down? What went wrong?

Nothing. Claude Julien prefered to use Mike Ribeiro. A better player...

Perreault is too soft. When he don't score goals or winning faceoofs he's useless.
I don't think Perreault slowed down. He can still score 20 goals and more in this league while winning key faceoffs.

Perreault has an elite shot in the NHL in terms of accuracy, thats how he gets all of his goals, he has a great shot, same for Pierre Dagenais, and so what we did was got rid of 1, now you see.... i liked Perreault, but, he's just too soft, i think hes a great guy and seems really sweet in all of his interviews though, he's too soft for this team, we need to get tougher and having a soft sniper wont help. I admit i will miss him a bit.

In the beginning, Perreault played better then when he was on the Leafs. Then Ribeiro showed up and he lost ice time. Since he is not suited for a checking line role, he got benched more and more.

I think he would dominate the WHA if he was signed by Quebec. Just look at his numbers in the Q and in the AHL...

You know, in HabsLand we prefer players that can dump the puck and hold the jersey or the stick of an opponent. Scoring goals for us???? Bof! Who cares about that! Someone who can score is not a REAL hockey player.... REAL hockey players dump the puck and score goals by crashing the net.......... Even Lafleur could not play for the HABS tpday as he was only a goal scorer. And my favourite HABS.

If I could use more than 5 smilies I would. Perreault is not better than Ribeiro, is he? And not better than Bonk or Ryder or Zednik or Koivu or..... He is useless on the third or fourth line because he's not much except for his shot and face offs. Also, we now have better players to dress (Plekanec, Hossa, Higgins)

Dagenais can score goals too! Thank God he's here to take over Perreault's spot!

You watch too much 110%...It's not just about scoring goals those days.
Bonk can play 2-way, score same total of goals, put more points and all that while playing on the 3rd line. And he's big.

Like you say, Dagenais is bringing the same thing on the table than Perreault. And for 500 000$. Don't get me wrong, i don't totally hate Perreault but if we want a better team, we need to change the players.

There is no room for Perreault on the top two lines of the Habs. He does not fit on on the third or fourth line. So, he has to find a new situation. A team that needs him.

As for his future, he is far from finished.

Regarding his talent, besides the obvious faceoff talent...on the Habs roster last season, he was one of only three players that could roof the puck from up close and in action. The others were Dags and Ryder. Watch the game tapes.

Some other team will be happy with his amazing face off percentage and his great shooting accuracy. The Habs just have too much developing and mid level veterns to give Perreault the ice time he needs.

He can still play

It is sure that Perreault can still play in the NHL he can be useful for many teams but he sure needs a salary diminution, but he can be a good player, a faceoff specialist and he can score awesome goals, but his lack of intensity and he was not present every night with the same effort killed him,

Don't forget he had very good playoffs when he not played with langdon

So we don't have room for him in montreal because of the depth of the team plus all the prospects that are coming fast but he still have a couple of good years in the nhl in front of him

No one said Perreault has no talent. A question as to what was wrong with Perreault's game was asked, and the answer was given. No one will deny that Perreault can help a team, but there is no room for him here, and thus we don't want him back. That's all anyone is saying.

I don't recall that question being asked in this thread.

they interviewed Perreault on RDS yesterday or the other day, he said he's basically waiting out the CBA negociations until he makes a decision, he talked to a few teams, not sure where he will go, family appeared to be a bit of an issue, he never ruled out Montreal, but I assume we're not taking him back
about Nordiks, said after we know if there's a lockout or not he will decide if that is an option, he kind of ruled out Europe, family reasons

we'll see what happens
