Mason Raymond

Say hypothetically he was put on the block by the Vancouver Canucks, what could the Canucks get for him, he is a very fast winger, he can possibly notch 30+ goals.

What do they want in return? A playoff rental?

Canucks would be looking for playoff tested guys, either a tough goalscoring forward or an offensive defenseman who can quarterback the powerplay.

Raymond can be part of a package I'm sure.

Although I will say I think he's got to show a fair bit more before I'd say he's a potential 30 goal scorer, he's on pace for about 40 points in his sophomore year playing a limited role and could probably produce more if it wasn't so obvious that he doesn't trust many of his linemates (holds the puck too long at times), especially when he's playing on the fourth line.

I think in a couple years this kid can put in 30. I even think he could do it next season. Back when Raymond was playing with Wellwood and Bernier/Pyatt he had a run of 11 points in 10 games going... Not bad at all. Then he went to the first line to try with the Sedins but that sure didn't work, different styles completely.

ANYWAYS ON POINT... We would want some sort of goal scoring forward rental or possibly a d-man with HIGH offensive upside (we'd give more, ofcourse).

I MIGHT do something like... Raymond, Grabner, 2nd for Kaberle out of Toronto... I really wanna keep our first this year.

Ales Kotalik and Jaroslav Spacek to Vancouver.
Mason Raymond to Buffalo.

Hell, you can take Afinogenov too, and possibly our 2nd Rd. Pick.

+1 to you sir

Back on topic: he doesn't have much value outside of being a package for a trade deadline rental. For just him, I wouldn't give more than a 2nd rounder.

You might, but Toronto won't. Any trade for Kaberle not including proven talent needs a 1st before we consider it.

Seriously? The chances of getting a player that's better than Raymond with that 2nd round pick is probably less than 20%, not to mention that you'd have to spend time developing the player.

No, pavelski is terrible.

Well then in that case we'll take him for Raymond.. if you don't mind adding a pick or two, that is. Since he's so terrible.

I think he may be using what's commonly known as sarcasm.

Not sure why, just a crazy gut feeling...

If Plekanec is only worth a 2nd, apparently, I can't see Raymond fetching more than a 4th or 5th.

Really? I figured TO would love to have two speedy wingers that show promise in their futures.

I'm not sure if Van would wanna give up their first this year... I'd do Grabner + someone else not Raymond) + 1st 2010

Why would they take your 1st in 2010 and not 2009. This draft is stronger and your draft pick in 10 is likely to be a later pick if all the rumors of Gaborik are true. I can't see Toronto settling on your 1st in 10. They need to rebuild and you don't take 1st rounders in a draft that is more than a year away.

Because they want to get Kaberle for nothing, or as long as it suits them.
