I agree, but that trade doesn't make sense now. Why fix something that is not broken? We aren't going to get better NOW if we do this trade.

Aucoin is playing great hockey for us now. No need to fix what ain't broke. Latendresse and O'Byrne don't help us right now in the way that Adrian can. No deal.

If anything, Calgary is looking for another top-four defensman; not giving one away.

I agree with what you are saying. I am just not the biggest Aucoin advocate. He is playing some good hockey though.

Habs should not even entertain a O'Byrne for Aucoin trade(with big contract) let alone adding LatenFREAKINdresse to that. Like O'Byrne, Komisarek had a shaky start in the NHL too, he kept making mistakes, everybody thought he was slow. Look at him now. And Lats still has a good potential and he's playing great now. Not to mention Bob would be hanged for trading local boy Latendresse.

Well, I don't think Gainey cares about hangings, nor do I even get the impression that many Habs fans like Latendresse very much. But anyway, I'm with you on not even trading O'Byrne alone for Aucoin. If there are going to be rental players available, it doesn't look like it will be from Calgary anyway.

I usually say why the hell would the other team do that, now it's why the hell would the Habs do that? Both players are really young and should only keep getting better and don't cost much to the Habs,Aucoin is getting old and paid a bit too much if you ask me.Pass for the Habs

Aucoin has been playing lights out lately. He also puts pucks in the oppositions net not his own.

No need to trade him right now when the two coming back wouldn't help immediatley.

Aucoin's play this year is much better.granted. OB score in his net.granted.
From MTL POV, Lats is finally playing with a chip on his shoulder. OB is still a project and will be a top 4 D-man in a few years from now.
I some this up that in a cap world, this makes no sense from MTL. Why? Do we really need an UFA to be. If cups where granted, sure, but it's not and Lats has a great potential. OB is up in the air for now but I have confidence he will turn it around.

Fair enough.

Doesn't make sense from both sides. Flames wanna keep contending and Montreal wants to develop their players.

Were developing our players and at the same time contending.
Nice try though.

Fixed for you.

Trapper what I meant is the Flames can't lose a top 4 d-man who is having a great season to develop some younger players. They simply don't have the depth to take such a risk at this point in time. As well we are already developing 3 young players in the NHL so to make it 5 would be detrimental to battling for the division title. Hope that clarifies my earlier post.

What are you on about? The guy never said anything about the Habs not contending, all he said was the Habs want to develop their young talent, which is true. No need to get a pissy with him.

Understand. I do hope you can see it from my view your original quote made it sound like you guys were contenders while all we were doing is trying to develop our players.
