That's a little sad that his trade value was equivalent to J.S. Aubin's. However, I guess that's the market.

Commence the party.

It shows how high Labarbera's stock is.

A seventh rounder might not sound like much, but i'm sure we'll pick up a decent talent.

More talent than Jason Labarbera and I'm pretty sure that 7th will never sniff the NHL.

Doing Jason Labarbera a major favor by giving him away for virtually nothing.

pretty risky to do this so soon, we still don't know how Quick will play out in the long run or how Ersberg will do with starter number of games. Think about it this way, combined, our two goaltenders have a total of 41 games of experience. Surprised he's giving the reins to the youth so quickly, especially when it's the goaltending position.

I can see why Lombardi did this, though. Quick was showing capable and with Ersberg back, ther'es a roster logjam. He'd probably have to send Labarbera down through waivers and he would probably lose him there anyways.

Plus if Quick ***** the bed, then you can expect that Bernier will get the callup.

Basically, we've given ourselves three chances to find a number one goalie with Quick, Ersberg, and Bernier and eliminated another contender from even backup contention in LaBarbera.

It became crystal clear that Labs was not going to succeed in LA. This deal is for the best for both parties.

Labs gets a fresh start. If he doesn't bounce back now, he never will.

The Kings get to at least try and make something out of a low round draft pick. It's better than losing Labs for nothing, which would have happened as stunning as that sounds.

WTF is that spposed to mean? Do I think a 7th rounder will be better than Labarbera? Yes! Labs is terrible in every aspect of goaltending. If people thought differently we would wouldn't have bailed on him with so many question marks and we would have received more than the 7th.

We got more for Labs than Anaheim got for Bryzgalov.

And we still play Vancouver 3 more times.

If LOL's is in net then chalk up 6 points for us, 3 for Vancouver.

Just need to get Vancouver to a shootout and we'll win for sure.

I come not to bury JLB, but to praise him. The guy is not the most talented, but he was a good soldier for the Kings organization. Never heard him complain about spending a whole season in Manchester when he was clearly the best goaltender in the organization (yes, that tells you a lot about how that situation is being corrected).

He led the Monarchs to a deep playoff run and provided the youngsters playing there with valuable playoff experience.

Glad Dean could find him a home with another NHL organization since he was no longer in our plans.

it should also be noted that while everyone and their mother was so quick to bash Dean Lombardi for his treatment of players... which was really only one player (Lubomir Vinsovsky)... which came via an interview with a foreign news agency, was never seen elsewhere unless it was a direct link to the original article, and to which Dean never bothered to offer any counter arguments, Jason is from the Vancouver area... and like Norstrom and Conroy, who were dealt to their preferred cities, was done a real solid.

I don't think I'd care either if I was earning an NHL paycheck while getting to play in a league that I excel in as opposed to being ridiculed and embarassed for the same salary.

Was Vancouver returning the favor because the Kings took Cloutier off their hands or what.
