Doesn't come down to him, but rather the team in front of him. They need to show up for 25 more wins with Price in net. You know Carey will not choke, so it's essentially the team in front IMO.

Oh God, don't remind me. Hossa's gloves found in the Bell Centre, etc. At least his rumours provide entertainment, but this place turns into a zoo. Didn't you have an avatar of The Great Gazoo?

Yeah and it had the title 'Eklund's #1 source" or something like that.

I now have it up for all those truly -ahem- credible Bouwmeester rumors.

It's possible, but unlikely.

Halak will still play another 15ish games, leaving Price with 32ish. He'd have to be absolutely spectacular and our team would have to improve on so many levels for him to reach that mark.

Halak will not start 15 more games this year.

Fair enough, even if he only plays 10.. that still only gives Price 37 games to get 25 wins.

25-8-4..

Is that very likely?

I'd love for him to do it.. I'm just not sure there is enough time after his injury. Without his injury, I think its a no brainer.

Yes I think it's possible for Price to go 25-12 in 37 games.

Possibly for Price? Very.
Possible the way the team is playing? Maybe.

We really have to put the pieces together (greatly improve the PP, work on the PK a little, give a better effort on most nights) because I will agree.

Never again on Team Canada with that choke artist, please. I don't care how many 'non-star' appearances he makes...

It happened during the 1950-51 season. So no Shoot outs, but only a 70 game schedule.

Fixed it for you. Logically the 70 game schedule would make the feat even more impressive.

How many teams where there back then? What would make it impressive now is the overall parity in the league, making it harder for a young guy to pick up 40 wins.

No he wont. And I dont want him to simply because he he will have to play too many games to get it done. He will be enhausted at playoff time.

I'd love for him to do it.. I'm just not sure there is enough time after his injury. Without his injury, I think its a no brainer.
Actually, he now needs 24 wins, and he has an average of two wins every 3 games, with the actual way the team ha been playing since the start of the season (16-4-5, which is 16-9), with this average, he'd need to be 24-13 in 37 games, which is likely with how the team has been playing and which would give Halak 9 more games this season. Now if the team plays better, its almost a sureshot if he doesn't get injured, and to me, I wouldn't be surprised if the team plays better in the upcoming months.

If he doesn't make it, he will be very close. Let's not forget that he missed almost three weeks, and is only 4 wins away from half mark with 5 games left till mid-season. IF he somehow manages 3-4 wins in the next 5 games, he'll be at 19-20 wins at the half mark of the season, while missing three weeks, which would make him very likely to get 20-21 wins in the second half of the season baring no further injuries, he'll have more time this time around to reach 20. That's why I think it is likely.

Also, for the person who thinks this will exhaust Price, let's not forget that he's much more healthy than last year, with the weight he lost this summer and training he got. Also, he will not have spent the previous season doing all he did in 2007, which is actually what exhausted him, coupled to the fact he wasn't as healthy as right now.

He is 16-4-5 right now. Why isn't it likely? At this pace, the next 25 games he will play he will be at 32-8-10. Let's say Halak plays 10 games (very reasonable) for the rest of the year. That gives Price 12 more games (after the 25) to get 8 wins. At the current pace in 12 games he would be right on track. 8-2-2 for a total of 40-10-12. Now, it's highly unlikely he ends up with 12 OTL's so I'd take about 4 of those away and split them evenly between wins and losses. My prediction for him by season's end is 42-12-8.
