February 10 -- Injury reports and updates (post #176)

Confirmed in In Game Broadcast that he is out for the game with a shoulder injury. It did not look good. luckily, it does not look like there was any head injury/contact.

I thought I should make this for any updates to be put in

Tuesday. December 30

Flyers left wing Simon Gagne suffered an upper body injury seconds after the opening faceoff in Philadelphia's game at Vancouver. He was checked into the boards by Canucks defenseman Kevin Bieksa, and will not return to the game.

In 35 games this season, Gagne has 18 goals and 22 assists for 40 points and 16 penalty minutes. He is second on the team in scoring, and tied for 10th in the league.

I hope it's just a shoulder. It's never good to actually wish an injury, but we can't have damage to his noggin.

A top 10 scorer in the league gets cheapshoted into the boards, no call by the refs because he's on the flyers. If thats crosby, bieska is in prison right now and banned for life.

Or if Harts does it to a Sedin it's a 5 minute major and supension to follow.

It's a joke.

Too bad the game wasn't out of reach, the Sedins should've been spitting teeth.

Giroux filled in nicely so I'm not too worried. With Danny coming back soon we're looking good.

He did look good with Richie and Knoobs, but he needs to shootg more, pass later.

I'm really hoping this isn't serious because I'm pretty sure it's a shoulder rather than another concussion.

I can't go another season without Gagne. I hope that he isn't out long.

I didn't get to see the game, but did the injury look serious? And by serious I mean could he be out a long time?

He went into the boards hard, skated off under his own power, but wasn't moving his arm much, if at all. It looked like something with the shoulder, maybe a dislocation or separation or something. Didn't look good though.

Bieksa's a skank.

He went off the ice holding his left forearm, shoulder slumped. He landed awkwardly on his left side. Probably a shoulder injury of some sorts.

Giroux - Richie - Knuble
Harts - Carter - Lupul
Gagne - Briere - Upshall

With even playing time
possibly?

As for Gagne, I only saw the hit twice. It was pretty crappy. I just hope hes okay, cuz losing him for time would SUCK

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Fifteen seconds into tonight's game with the Canucks, the Flyers lost the services of Simon Gagne after he was blindsided on a hit by Vancouver defenseman Kevin Bieksa.

Gagne, who has made a remarkable recovery from a concussion that sidelined him for most of last season, appeared to injure his right shoulder. The Flyers said he suffered an "upper-body injury" and would not return.

After Bieksa hit Gagne, the left winger went down to the ice. Flyers captain Mike Richards immediately went after Bieksa and the two slugged it out. Bieksa appeared to have the edge.

"He hit Gaggy. I kind of saw it out of the corner of my eye. I felt it was kind of a cheap hit, a late hit and from behind," Richards said. "So I felt I had to do something about it. I thought it was a hit that should have been a penalty and there wasn't a call. So I think you kind of have to address it in a way that you don't want to but you have to."

As far as the severity I'd say pretty bad. If I'm remembering it right he tried to get over the boards but couldn't. Like it would take to much arm movement to get over, even without using them. Then he just gave up. Either that or he stopped to enjoy his front row seat to the fight.

Replay's on now for anyone who wants to see it again.

Agreed.

I was in dismay when the referees didn't call a penalty on that hit on Gagne.

Just saw the hit. it has to be his shoulder. Way to be Richards for standing up for Gagne...can't believe there as no call!

That really showed Richards leadership to me. I know his leadership both on and off the ice, but that was amazing standing up for Gagne-- who wouldn't?

Just hope he's back on the line-up. Briere's gonna be back, though.

I love Richards leadership. It's very lead by example which is the best. He reminds me of Maj. Richard Winters from Band of Brothers. Don't know why he does.

Kudos to Richards - Man the guy is Gold. If Hodgson can be close to Richards I'll be happy. BXSA's hit deserved retaliation whether clean or not and Richards jumps in on tough fighter without a second thought.

Canucks were determined to avenge the mugging they got last season and Gagne was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Hope he's not hurt too bad.
