During this Christmas season, we wanted to share a special story with our fans about Bobby Nadeau. He is a great player and an incredible goaltender, but more importantly, he is a very special individual, which is easy to see by the following story.
Prior to Christmas, the Rocket organization received an email from a 62 year old grandfather from La Baie (Chicoutimi) who is suffering from terminal colorectal cancer. The gentleman explained that Bobby Nadeau was his 4 year old grandson’s favorite player and idol, and he would love to be able to give the child a signed poster.
When the Rocket shared the email with Bobby, he was very touched by the note and wanted to personally purchase a poster for the child and send it along. Bobby wanted to pay for the items himself, but management felt it would be appropriate to assist. Bobby was able to gather a couple of signed posters, a couple of signed hockey cards, a PEI Rocket mini goalie stick, and to top it off, an extra small PEI Rocket replica jersey, complete with #29 and Nadeau on the back.
Bobby then decided to take this initiative a step further. He decided that he would like to deliver the jersey and other souvenirs to the child and grandfather in person…in Chicoutimi! During the very brief Christmas break, when most players try to spend as much time with their friends and family, Bobby decided to deliver the package to the family in person on December 24th.
There were many tears and the family was very touched by Bobby’s kindness. Without a doubt, this type of kindness by Bobby will not soon be forgotten.
The PEI Rocket are very pleased to have a player like Bobby within the Rocket family and we wanted to support him, he is a pretty special kid with a lot of character…and we thought our fans would also want to know.
