Was it really a boarding? I haven't seen the hit yet.

Anyways, I hope the guy is alright. Shoulder injuries suck ass do the complexity of that particular joint.

Also, I agree with the sentiments here regarding Richards... It's a damned shame the man is in a Flyers uniform wearing the 'C' though... Take that as a compliment if you'd please.

I'm glad Seemoan is only out for a week or so, but seriously, can we go one game without losing more players to injury?

If Hartnell hits one of the Sedins exactly like that there would have been 5 and a 10 easy and at least a "warning" from Campbell.
People laugh when Flyer fans mention there is a double standard, this is a perfect example.
I am not asking for a long suspension by any means, but that was a major penalty for boarding.

Simon Gagne has a strained shoulder and is out 7-to-10 days.

Huh? They've been doing this for as long as I've been a fan and I don't remember the team ever complaining. In fact I'm pretty sure it was the team's idea to make it a tradition.

On a dirty scale of 1-10 that hit may have been a 4 to 4.5, definitely not suspension worthy. Of course, this is the "new NHL."

7 to 10 days is ok I guess. Looked like separated shoulder at first.

Upshall will be back real soon, hopefully Giroux will help out. Playing 17-20 min a night is good for him. Ahsam is day to day.

Before you know it Gagne and Briere are back.

It's called finishing your check. I thought the Flyers fans of all people know what that is.

If I'm not entirely mistaken, finishing a check refers to the practice of delivering the hit even though you already know the puck has already passed away.

And of course, you must do that 12 seconds into the period outside any kind of goal-threatening situation with the puck practically already in the possession of your team on the guy who's got his back turned at you facing the boards

"Finishing a check" does not qualify as an excuse for a dirty hit!

PS: I forgot to compliment you earlier on the very nice, absolutely unpretentious nickname you have chosen.

Well the league seems to agree with me.

I talk about finishing checks, and you make fun of my username. Nicely done.

That there is a dispute whether the league has made the correct call or not is the entire point of the discussion. You agreeing with the league does not give your position more weight or makes the call correct for it

I expressed an unrelated opinion about your nickname earlier and haven't used that to argue for or against that call. My sidejab at your username has absolutely nothing to do with this discussion which is why I rendered it as a postscript...

Wait a second. When I say that the league seems to agree with me I'm referring to the suspension or punishment Bieksa has not recieved. Not whether or not he should have been penalized on that call.

OK, so please let me get this straight: What would you have called, based on your first reaction when you saw the incident based the first footage you saw of it, and do you believe any punishment past that game should have been assessed?

Stop feeding the damn troll. It was a late hit, Simple as. It's not finishing your check at all. If this happened to a player on your team you would be calling for the heads of all the flyers players and calling them a disgrace upon the league. Double standards. Whenever this happens to a flyer it's part of the game.

The league agrees with you on every dirty hit against the Flyers, hence the outrage. There's no such thing as karma or "deserving it" when you're talking about innocent players' lives.

yeah but the problem is, it wasnt a clean "hit"

If Hartnell hit one of the Sedins exactly like that it would have been a bigger story then the hockey game. TSN and other canaidan markets would have been the Flyers are at it again with their questionable, dirty hits and they would have pushed the league office for a suspension.
As I said earlier, I am not asking for a suspension. I just want a fair shake with these type of hits.
Was Coburn's hit really any worse then this? Coburn got a 5 and a 10 in that game.

wha?

Anyway spong said it best. Stop feeding the troll. He just likes feeling special by disagreeing with an entire fanbase. He's already started backpedaling, going from it was a clean hit to "well I just meant there shouldn't be a suspension". Let the troll starve.

a new update on Gagne now on Flyers website:
Quote:

http://flyers.nhl.com/team/app/?serv...LPage&id=18891

"The shoulder felt pretty good today. It's a little bit tight, but that's expected. I'm very positive the way things are going right now," explained Gagne.

"I'm [staying] positive that I might be back before [January 6]."

How about the league instituting an eye for eye policy. If any hit is deemed illegal and worthy of any suspension, than the offending player is suspended and fined for as long as the player he injured is out. I like it.
