Nashville Fun Fact: The Predators are tied with Boston and Edmonton for the fewest home games played in the NHL at 15. The Predators have 7 home games in January and 10 in February.

Nashville Player to Watch: Martin Erat has 3 points in his last 3 games, after having 3 points in the previous 10 games.

Nashville Reason to Worry: The Predators have lost to Vancouver five straight times, dating back to 12/7/07, and haven't beaten Vancouver at home since 11/23/06.

Nashville Injury Report
Scott Nichol (Concussion, Out)
Steve Sullivan (Back, IR)

Nashville Projected Lineup

Pihlström-Peverley-Belak

Weber-Suter
Hamhuis-Zanon
De Vries-Klein

Ellis

Nashville Media Coverage: Tonight's game will be available on radio only, on FM 104.5 "The Zone." Pete Weber and Terry Crisp will have the call... and hopefully Terry won't have to break into his secret stash under the "cash only" register at Americo's.

Fun Fact: The Canucks are making a quick road swing out east, playing the Predators and Thrashers on consecutive nights, on a road trip that covers more than 8,000 kilometers (approx. 4,971 miles) and a total of four time changes.

Player to Watch: Winger Mason Raymond has five points in his last five games, and four points (3g+1a) in four contests all-time vs. Nashville.

Reason to Worry: The Canucks will be without starter Roberto Luongo AND backup goaltender Curtis Sanford, who have similar injuries (Luongo is expected to miss up to a month). This leaves them with the rather disappointing Jason "LolBarbera" (5-8-4, 2.83 GAA, .893 SV%, 2 SO), acquired from the Los Angeles Kings just a few days ago, and Corey Schneider, who has proven that he's not quite NHL ready.

Should be a good one to watch, hope they let Tootoo do his thing. I watched the Nucks play a pretty physical game the other night against the Flyers Well it started out that way until the Flyers started skating circles around them and scoring goals. Hope we can manage more than one or two goals. At this point I'll be happy with two, seeing how we've only scored 7 in our last 5 games.

You clearly missed the next three words of his quote..."and scoring goals"

Does that sound like Erat to you?

Im depressed. We are 3rd in the division, 12th in the conference, and 5 of the next 6 games are not on tv.

The Preds need to win bad tonight.

Not trying to further your depression but we currently behind Columbus in 4th place lol, we have a game in hand though

I think we can start a winning streak though, these guys play better at home. We are treading water now... the best we can hope for is to stay afloat and hope Sullivan comes back imo, otherwise....

I hope someone legally knocks Burrows into oblivion tonight

who knows..VK wasnt especially impressive last game and is a bit softer than Klein. With the physical Canucks play I would pick KK, but Trotz is unpredictable sometimes.

Please tell Sullivan to limit his shots to 3 tonight. 3 goals should be enough for y'all to win.

Sully has had one practice and one morning skate since being cleared for contact. He is not playing tonight...give him a couple weeks.

My optimistic side says I hope that Sully comes in with the entrance he had after we aquired him from the Hawks. Seemed like he ignited the offense then, hoping the same will happen pretty soon this season. This game tonight looked like they didn't have clue where each other was on the ice. I can think of only a few times passes that were tape to tape. I had high hopes for Ward after the first few games but they need to give somebody else a shot on the top line. The team really needs a shake up some where soon or the only thing in a month we'll be looking forward is if we qualify for the Tavares sweeps. Tonight we were horrible absolutely horrible!!

This teams offense and powerplay are both easily the worst in the league. With Poile, you know that nothing is probably going to be done, but if there is any time in the history of the Predators that something needs to be done for this offense, it is now.

Tootoo always fights whom ever, when ever. Obviously you don't watch many Preds games do ya? Props to Burrows though for answering the bell. Go back to your cave, Troll!

Santos flat out said they werent going to do anything about it on the pregame last night. He said, "we have some big names and we have thrown big money at them, and now they are going to get us out of this." [something very close to that]

Did anyone see this post game interview?

Felder - "It seemed like Darcy was trying to maybe make up for old times."

Tootoo - "Yeah. You know in each and every game you are going to run into guys who want to draw penalties and that's part of his job. Obviously, I'm a lot better player than he is and I don't need to be wasting my time trying to play that role. I play a lot more minutes than he does and that's the bottom line."

Tootoo is 5'9", 200; Burrows is something like 6'1", 204?

Or should I do that in metrics for you?

We played flat in the first, and meh in the third. I thought we played a solid second period, played with some energy and had some chances, but couldn't catch a break. And I think that factors into why we aren't playing all that well: we just can't catch a break in the offensive zone. When we get those chances that could go either way (a shot that rings off the inside of the post or slips behind the goaltender), it doesn't fall our way. Of course, we don't do ourselves a whole lot of favors.

I figured Tootoo's line was out there for one reason and one reason only to start the game, and lo and behold, I was right. Not much to that fight, though. Tootoo landed the only real punch.

Bonk had a flashback to his Ottawa days on Peverley's goal. That was a fantastic pass. The kindergartner sitting next to me in 306 could have buried that one.

Babs was giving up rebounds all night, but we had nobody going to the front of the net. *coughRYANJONEScough*

Is it just me or does Trotz have all of our players thinking defense first? Every time Tootoo takes a shot off the wing, Babs gives up the rebound, and Bonk and Smithson give up on the play and head back through the neutral zone. Our defensemen give up on the play too soon and start skating back the other way, as well. This mentality isn't going to help us score a lot of goals.

The power plays for both teams looked identical... well, except one team made crisp, accurate passes, generated movement to try and get themselves open for the puck-carrier, and were able to hold the zone for more than 10 seconds before turning the puck over. Our PK was solid, and Sundin wasn't playing, or this game would have been over in the first period.

Arnott and Dumont are not playing well. At all. PLEASE split them up.

Erat should have been a NASCAR driver.

I noticed several poor plays and bad turnovers out of Klein. I thought he played okay overall, and I understand that he's still learning the NHL game (as do FCM and many others); however, Barry Trotz does not, and he'll gladly sit Klein for Koistinen, so KK needs to be a quick study or Ville might get another chance to "build some consistency."

Other than his pair of aborted starts, I think Rinne has looked pretty sharp. It's easy to see why he's the future.

I really, REALLY hope we make a move today or tomorrow. I don't care if it's just calling up Santorelli and Jones and sitting Smithson and Peverley, this team need a kick in the 'nads, and they need it right now.

Peverly's goal probably earned him another month of immunity at least.

When Rich and Vern are outproducing your money guys, something is terribly terribly wrong.

I dont think Poile has the guts to do something about it. I know you cant go flinging yourself off of a bridge during every tough stretch but the way things go in this league any other team would have fired Trotz, pilfered Milwaukee, and/our made even a small trade 2 weeks ago.

This is a different sort of bad than we are accustomed to around here.

It's sad that Rinne/Ellis have to basically post shutouts in order for us to win. It was OK when they were having a shutout every other game or so for a few weeks but they can't do it all the time, they need some help.

If a Predator has the puck in the offensive zone he should just shoot. From anywhere. Don't worry about passing now, just take the shot. Put the puck on the net and 2 other players go to the net for a rebound. OMG just start scoring!!!!!

Tootoo's fight came at 22 seconds. That was somewhat funny.
