Halak

Weber maybe sitting Friday, then in the lineup either for Brisebois or dress 7 D against the weaker Panthers.
I agree i think they will prob go with 7 D when Weber plays. He will prob be mostly used as a PP specialist like Ellis for Team Canada.

You want to sit Lats He is really starting to play good especially with Lapierre they are puck cycling beasts the last few games. I would like to see Lats Lapierre Pacioretty to see how he handles a scoring line. That might be a power forward line if Lappy continues to improve.

I wouldnt mind seeing Denis play one game.

Hopefully:

AKost - Plekanec - Kovalev
Pacioretty - Lang - D'Agostini
SKost - Lapierre - Latendresse
Begin - Chipchura - Kostopoulos

Carbo is making himself look like a dufus with these comments:

Carbonneau added that he's considering using the rookie Swiss defenceman as a power play specialist like Mark Streit was by inserting him into the lineup as a forward.

**** off with this stuff. What because Weber is a offensive D-man from Switzerland like Streit he's automatically going to be able to play forward with ease? Just take out Brisebois for a game, I think we can afford it.

Let's see how MaxPac does against The Trap

AK46 - Plek - SK74
Pacioretti - Lang - Kovy
Lats - Lapierre - D'Agostini
Begin - Chipchura - Kostopoulos

I don't mind Pax on either 2nd or 3rd line.

Man we have to be one of the most injured teams this season, and almost all of them to key players OR to players who were having good streches. What an unlucky year.

I'm happy that our farm team players are good enough to play in the NHL on the 3rd or 4th line but our first line really needs to step it up now because we are 1 scoring line and 3 checking lines... the exact opposite of our normal line-up. (Arguably 2 scoring lines but with rookies).

It would be awesome to have a record over .500 with this team and then have all/most of our injured players come back and start playing to their potential (3 scoring lines).

Well, thankfully not all the injuries happened at once so our call-ups were able to get used to the NHL-style one at a time. D'Agostini is good enough to be a real full-time NHLer, and even if he isn't scoring a goal a game anymore he knows his role and I don't expect to see him mess up badly. I still saw him get nice chances last game and he doesn't try risky plays so I'm not worried about him. Chipchura already has some good experience and it might take a game or two to get back into the swing of the NHL speed but thankfully the first game is against NJ which aren't the most offensive-minded team since they usually like to counter-attack with their annoying trap game. Maxwell had some decent games (nothing flashy but nothing messed up bad which is what we wanted) even though he got sent back to allow some other players to get more experience.

Denis has NHL experience so even if Halak struggles we can still expect a decent (albeit not great) showing from our goalies. It seems Price is only going to be gone 1 or 2 games though which is a plus, althought I don't want to rush him back when we aren't in dire need of him.

Hopefully Weber gets paired up with Hamrlik. He always seems to do good with new players and helps them get better. I expect him to be show more intensity in his play than O'Byrne at the very least and possibly take Brisebois' spot if he does well. I don't think he's better than O'Byrne but O'Byrne didn't seem like he cared about hockey or the Habs this year.

MaxPac I don't expect much of because of his age but I know he has good potential so hopefully he can get some experience to build on. He was good in pre-season but he's in the middle of his first real season in the AHL with the schedule so I imagine fatigue built up over the season. I heard he's doing good in Hamilton though (obviously since he got called up) so maybe he's already past that and hopefully he can get a few points here and there.

Overall I still think we can compete. I expect a lot from our call-ups because they know chances are rare and that they need to play solid hockey and have intensity if they want to stay.

Were you turned off by how poorly the Mark Streit experiment worked last year? I can't wait to see if he can play to half of Streit's ability.

Patches Im rather excited to see if he can repeat his play from exhibition.

Chips it's about effing time you got a chance to play again. Tremendously impressed with the dignity that this young man has shown being shuffled along in Hamilton when he should be in the NHL.

Edit: and who the heck cares about denis.

I'm not too worried about price, just a little annoyed at his luck.

Lets hope halak can pick up where he left off. Jersey likes to crash the net alot, so I was hoping for the bigger body in Price... oh well.

As for Tanguay, I'm not a big fan, I think the habs will be fine without him.

Price is at home placing All-Star votes on NHL.com.

I agree about Tanguay. He is a solid two-way player, but he suffers from over stick handling and doesn't shoot enough. It'll be a good time to develop a young forward (MaxPac or Chipchura) and get Higgins back. At least now we don't have to sit D'Ago or Lats or S Kost.

Then Tanguay will be back in time for the playoffs.

not just this year... He played just fine last year, this year he may have been injured but it's not like he was in the AHL for conditioning. He's in the AHL simply because we have very little room for him. He should have been brought up before Maxwell. I understand that we wanted to try to keep an offensive player with koivu's line when he went out. But the better, more responsible, player should have been the first call up.

do you understand that? jerkass.

He was sent down last year to work on his face off skills. Team didn't want to chance it.

maybe it's just me... but faceoff % is one of the most overrated stats in hockey. When the Oilers were terrible they led the league in faceoffs.

but maybe it's just me. Last year we had Koivu and Plekanec to throw out for a faceoff. They are both responsible defensively and can win faceoffs. If it's a tie game late in the third just throw them on when the faceoff is must win. otherwise... just get the puck back after the faceoff.

It was a spot on the team that needed serious repair. We were losing faceoffs and it was costing us goals. Especially a team like ours last season that relied so heavily on the blueline.

Kyle Chipchura had a spot on the roster until Robert Lang got the call up. When he comes up I'm sure he is going to play some spectacular hockey and make it even tougher to decide things. He is an example of being patient with a player instead of rushing him. When Kyle comes in for good, there will be no question marks on him. He'll be solid for the next 10 years.

We're probably in the Top 5 for injuries, but not even close to St. Louis. Talk about a team that's snakebitten and without the depth to keep competing like the Habs.

Man...i'm so happy Gainey decided to move on Lang when he had the opportunity. I remember some people here saying that they had rather have gone with what we have then go after Lang
