Lats scored our only goal last game and you want to sit him in favor of an AHl defenseman?

Not likely he is, but say Weber is in, who's out? Chip and Pacioretty make 12 forwards and we have 6 healthy defensemen.

SKost?

My guess;

A.Kostitsyn-Plekanec-Kovalev
Pacioretty-Lang-D'Agostini
Latendresse-Lapierre-Kostopolous
Weber-Chipchura-S.Kostitsyn

Markov-Komisarek
Hamrlik-Gorges
Bouillon-Brisebois

Halak
Denis

Don't believe that Bégin will sit. If there's one guy that will, it will be SKost or Brisebois.

Plek/Koivu/Smokes were all around the 50% mark in FOs. That's not that good and Chipper had 43%.

Koivu was 63rd amongst centers, Smokes 71st and Plek 105th.

I don't know about you, but there's 15seconds left in a Game, we're down by 1, goalie pulled, faceoff in the offensive zone. Is it important to win the faceoff??

Or the role reversed, we're up by 1, 10sec left, defensive zone faceoff. Important to win it??..
What if this is the game that decides whether or not we clinch a PO spot??..
What if this is in the POs and we're facing elimination?..

Or what if it's just in the middle of a regular game?..They're all important.

Winning a faceoff means starting with the puck, it's control. How can you say this part of the game is overrrated??..

He won't be back tomorrow.
He's skated the last couple days and trained, but Carbo said we have to be patient with him.

About 20 members voted in the poll after the call-ups were announced.

The nuclear physicists convention must have wrapped up.

Price Injured?

I am new here, but imaybe the call up of Denis, is because there is a trade in the works for Halak? With all the injuries, maybe Ganiey has pulled the trigger?

Denis was called up because Price is injured again.

Halak won't be moved. We're blessed to have such a talented back up and would be foolish to give him up in a weak goalie market.

Price traded ??

Kriss E - I totally agree with you and I would prefer to have both Price/Halak for a long long time. But if Price was playing hurt in Tampa Bay..... then he really is Superman.

I think Begin may sit because of his body and the fact that he's been so good, we don't want to destroy him before the playoffs.

I didn't see the last game, but Bouillon has been our worst defenseman of late, so I wouldn't mind him taking a sit for a game.

Markov - Komisarek
Hamrlik - Brisebois
Gorges - Weber

From what Carbo said, seems that Weber was called 'cause Carbo is hesitating between 7 D's to play Weber or 6 D's to play Pacioretty. So clearly, or maybe not so clearly, 1 rookie won't be playing. It doesn't seem that it would be detrimental against a vet.

Carbo also said no more then 3 days ago that Weber was not close to being NHL ready.

and he was in love with B Maxwell

I agree, I don't think any of our regulars will sit out. I don't think any of them should anyways.

I think MaxPac will play because he's a winger and if S.Kost is out as well, Weber will be added to see how he can pan out on the PP.
Chipper will take over Maxwell's spot.

From a September 30, 2008 article....seems that he's in love with Weber as well...

Quote:

It really is remarkable the depth available in Hamilton. Our entire 2nd line is out (Tanguay-Koivu-Higgins) and we are able to call up pretty serviceable replacements (D'Ags, Chips, MaxPac)...rather amazing.

It's going to be very interesting to see what Gainey does this offseason with so many UFAs. We'll find out pretty soon how much Tanguay's loss will mean.

And I haven't seen anyone post it in this thread (I may have missed it), but Carbo said that Chips and Max are definitely playing tomorrow night. Do we know is Sergei is hurt/not playing against the Devils or was he just receiving some treatment and thus did not practice today?

I was just reading the Minnesota Wild blogger...looks like Gaborik is now out for the season...and an UFA on July 1..... his salary likely to be less the the $8M the Wild offered. Without hesitation I would sign Gabs and let Kovy go. Gabs can do the same as Kovy and is only 29 I think.

One other thought...I think I would overpay to get a guy like Artyukhin in a Habs uniform. A 4th line of Arty/Laps/Lats would be interesting

Gabs can't do anything when he is always sidelined with injuries. No way I pay to get him on this team.

If Price was hurting in the warm-up before last game he shouldn't have gotten the start. It's important that he's completely healthy and it just doesn't make sense to risk further injury when we've got such a great backup in Halak.
