First game in 2009. Nice GDT.

Let's turn our luck around vs Devils.

What luck around?

We're on a three game winning streak and while we lost the last game against the Devils, I think we broke the Devil curse last season since Brodeur was way too enamored watching Price to save his own team.

(Hey, it was Marty who said it, not me!)

Yes indeed. I hope things do not get so bad that we have to call players from Cinncinnati. Good thing we have a relatively good feeder system that can save us for a few weeks in times of need.

As for the game, I think the Habs will come out with a scrappy 3-2 win with the winning goal being scored near the end of regulation.

He did against Florida in his only other appearance.
I just hope he is on the correct side of the +/- battle and near 53% in the circle.

I would expect nothing less. He's been patiently waiting for his chance, now he has to take it and run.

It will also be exciting to see Max Pac in action. I'm not expecting much, so hopefully I'm pleasantly surprised.

It's also amazing that despite the injuries to Koivu, Higgins, Tanguay, Laraque and Dandenault this team still has 11 NHL-caliber forwards in its lineup. The lineup still looks somewhat depleted but it could be a lot worse.

We trade Tanguay and Maxwell for Chipchou and Maxipad, it's more weight and more grit.

The Habs will be playing a road game against a Devils team that's at full strength except for Brodeur. The replacements for the injured Habs are talented but they're inexperienced and they haven't had a chance to integrate with the regulars who are still playing. So, the Habs will ice a team that reminds me of the preseason lineups they assembled in September. It's daunting, but there's still hope they can beat the Devils tonight.

It doesn't look as though the Habs can catch the Bruins, who are cutting through the NHL like a hot knife through butter in the regular season. The playoffs may be different. I expect the Bruins to trade Fernandez before the deadline and Thomas will have to fend for himself without relief. Also, by April I expect the Habs to have solved their power play problems and to have reassembled a healthy team with a more experienced Carey Price leading the way. For all we know, Yannick Weber may turn into the new Streit, and the Habs may have 11, not 9, capable scorers: Koivu, Plekanec, Lang, and Lapierre at center, and Kovalev, the Kostitsyns, Tanguay, Higgins, Latendresse, and d'Agostini on the wings (and perhaps Pacioretty as well).
