Lucky, you sound like Devils fans last year who were complaining about Zajac.

Don't worry about Dubi, he'll be just fine.

That Redden signing is going to go down as one of the worst of all time, maybe right after the Holik signing, Gomez one could be top 5 as well. Damn what a GM we have.

This is one of the few times I don't feel optimistic about a sports team, and it's because I have absolutely no faith in Sather.

I can't see him getting himself out of the mess he caused, and even by some stroke of genius he does, I can't imagine him making things better. I can see it now, buy out Redden and trade for McCabe!

Rangers already signed two big time super stars in Gomez and Drury. What more could they need?

Ugh...

[QUOTE=SticksnGolves;17005666]

If they can get Hossa...that would be a BIG help since he scores and can play good defense.
The problem becomes, the farm system is barren per HF's rankings...so who fills in on defense?

Lock Zherdev up...but who cares about Mara.

You let Mara and Kalinin walk.
Duby...I'd take Hossa over him...Duby is a 3rd liner and our farm system is loaded with them.
This club needs scoring.

you ask who can fill the spots on defense if rozy and redden are let go but then you say let mara walk. mara has been our 2nd best dman behind staal. he doesn't have a big contract at all. why would you let him walk? seems like a dumb move imo.

First off, Sather did not screw us.

He didn't trade away people for those contracts. UFAs are talent you don't have to trade for, thus he got them for basically nothing.

And trading for often injured pansy players will not make this team better.

You want to make this team better? Start playing your offensive players.

Play Prucha, sit Voros, Sign Shanny. No reason why a Shanny-Dubi-Prucha line can't do well.

And for gods sake stop playing the 1-2-2 game, it worked back in like the 90s.

I'd rather spend the next season and a half regaining our cap space, sign Staal/Zherdev/Dubi/Mara etc long term, then hope come '10 Ilya has fun in Brighton Beach and wants to play here.

To say that signing players to ridiculously over priced contracts means 'getting them for nothing' is absurd. Yes, we didn't give anyone away for them, but that doesn't make it a good deal.

If the answer to our offensive problems are 'playing Prucha and signing Shanny' then I'll gladly eat crow, but I highly doubt that a 3rd liner and an over the hill player are going to help our scoring problems.

We will eventually get Hossa, even if you dont want him.

Here's why:
In the 2006 playoffs Jags tried to hit gomes and hurt himself, which ended out playoff run.
In the 2007 playoffs Dru scored on us with 7.7 seconds left to tie the game, which buffalo eventually won the game and killed our spirits, which ended out playoff run.
Last season Hossa scored on us to win the game in OT, which ended out playoff run.

see a pattern?

The big question again...can we/how likely is it we get OUT of Redden AND OR Rozy?
What is the cap hit on a buyout...because nobody would take them in a trade....well maybe Millbury would if he was GM.
mara is a huge deal at 1.95, if we can get him again i would be all for it. Hes definitely been one of our better defensemen this year, we should have waived kalinin weeks ago.
