Crazy Gainey

Do you think BG would do something crazy like sign Brett Hull?
Was Gainey the GM when Hull was playing for Dallas?

Imagine how controversial THAT would be if we signed him...

I thought the Kovalev trade was pretty crazy when it happened, so I guess I wouldn't be surprised.

That would be remotely possible if Kovalev signs elsewhere...

I'd like to see Hull with Ribeiro...

He might take risks but i don't think he's psycho unless behind that stern placid mask hides a voracious kinky animal...which would be out of the question.

Not me, remember the non-goal scoring streak by Hull to get his 700th?

Bring back Audette instead...he know the Montreal media better than Hull!

That was only out of curiosity, I'd like to see how the two would fit together, I don't really want Gainey to sign Hull...

The golden Brett with Mike Ribeiro?? It would be magic. I want to see Hull as a hab shooting a brillant one-timer from the slot after a perfect pass from Ribs, behind the net

I hope that an Audette comeback is a joke.

Hull? Maybe... if Kovalev signs elsewhere and the other top guns (Demitra, Selanne, Palffy, etc...) are either not available or unaffordable... then yeah, maybe Hull for a one year contract. Having said that, Hull is definitly not plan B if Kovalev leaves.

Yes Gainey is the one who signed Hull to a contract in Dallas. But wasn't that 7 or 8 years ago? A 40 year old can't hack it like when he was 32 or 33...

Audette was pretty good before he got his forearm *destroyed*.

Once then he became a very average player.

Became a very average player is the overstatement of the year. The guy was a lug. Make that a 3 million dollar a year lug.

Looks like there are some reports in the Dallas papers that Hull is either headed to Dallas or Phoenix. However, it's all speculation until the deal is done.

If Dagenais can get 15+ goals in 50ish games only using his big shot I have no doubt Hull could get as many. And that would be from the second line. I'd really like to see a player like Hull in Mtl. But I still haven't forgotten nor forgiven the fact he used the habs to up his value as an UFA a few years ago.

But there's about 0,01 % chance he ends up in Mtl. First because I doubt Gainey would want him here, particularly at the kind of money he'll ask for. Second because I doubt Hull himself would like to play in Mtl.

If we couldn't get Kovalev or any of the other marquee FAs, I'd sign Hull for 2 years, 7 mil. He's still worth it.

"The Arizona Republic reported Tuesday night that the Phoenix Coyotes have made a two-year offer to unrestricted free agent Brett Hull."

"The Coyotes are reportedly competing with two of Hull's former teams - the St. Louis Blues and Dallas Stars."

Zedder can play both wings, as can Ryder, so I think a winger on either side would be fine.

We could get the same production out of Dagenais, Bulis, Hossa rotating on the second line. We don't need to give a bunch of money to an old man like Hull. We have to break in our kids.

We have 2 spots to fill on the top 2 lines. Ryder and Ryder have no experience yet.
We have only 2 offensive guys with experience. We need at least 1 UFA. We cannot patch our roster using only prospects. Hull would be a great fit with Ribeiro on a 2 year contract.

Don't laugh! A couple of years ago I would have said Dave Andreychuk was done. Then look what he did this year. However, I doubt Gainey has the cash left over to sign a first liner like Hull.

Damn, i thought he would earn 3 millions $. It's a bargain. Gilmour on his last legs was earning 2 millions and he was scoring 10 goals + 30 assists. Hull can still score 25 and gets 35 passes, at least.
