Lazy. Lazy and undisciplined. The Flames were not good for the lion's share of this period. They started great, for oh say the first five minutes. Great fore check, solid hits again, and hard work down low. Then they tied up the game and stopped using their brains. Penalty after penalty, and stupid bad penalties at that. Easily the wrst period of hockey I have seen from this team since the San Jose game. Which this is starting to greatly resemble I might add.
The penalty kill was, until the last ten seconds of the period, really really good. Miikka was absolutely stunning and Nystrom and Pardy both were huge. They chased down the puck, blocked shots and passes, and never really let the Hawks get set up. Until the very last PK which every just stood around assuming they would get to the intermission with a penalty to kill. LAZY! Nevermind the horror, the abomination, the sheer garbage that is our power play. Not content with not even getting a shot on goal, they decided to give up a short handed goal. Seriously, could something pretty please be done about this?
Miikka was doing so very well, until well I don't know. He hasn't been bad, but three goals in the second certainly suggests something isn't being done properly. Conroy. Man you've been doing so well staying out of the sinbin until tonight. Get it together. And you, yes you Dion. That SH goal was half your fault, half Miikka's. You simply MUST maintain control of the puck. Maybe I'm being a tad hard on you, but in my opinion you should have had that puck.
